Hi there could Raton Pass 3 be a template candidate no hurry just wondering. thx,bob Already on the list. But I personally have many projects ahead of this one. I see that the template for the Raton 2 route is no longer on the templates page. Hopefully the author of the previous template is already working on this one. -------------------- Norman

But, if there isn't anyone working on Raton 3, I would be happy to work on this one. Jim |

Jim Jim, Have at it. I look forward to many fun activities from your template!!! Maybe there was no Raton 2 template. I could be remembering Glorieta. -------------------- Norman

I have been progressing with the Raton Pass 3 templates. All cars have been placed and I am working on setting up the car types. Regarding the cars to be used on this route, I decided to look at some other templates for car selections. I really don't want to use too many of the default cars, but will use cars that have been used in other templates. This should minimize the amount of downloads.

Hi Jim, any idea when the Raton 3 template will be available for download. Thanks for doing it. I've been started working on it again this past week. It should take me another couple of weeks to finish up. I have chosen most of the cars from the following templates: Clovis, Needles, Cajon, Phoenix and Glorieta. I also added a few others to round out the selection. There are not too many sidings along the way on the mainline. Most of the switching will be making up trains in the yards and along the branches. There are some sidings along the mainline for switching, but most will entail switching in the yard to make up a train, and then running it to one of the other yards further down the track. In some test activities I've been able to do a fair amount of switching combined with some nice mainline running. I apologize for the delay, but September was not a good month for me and my immediate family. There were a few things that really took the wind out of the sails for a short time and kept me preoccupied with other tasks. Regards, Jim |

This one has been interesting with traffic due to the amount of single track running and speedlimits thru the pass. If only MSTS signals would follow actual railroad practice on these lines instead of all the timing issues!!!! If anyone would like to beta test what has been done so far, please send me a PM with your email address. Jim |

I've been trying to run a few activities on each path for traffic testing. If all goes well, it should be passed on to Steve the weekend of 11/08/08. Jim |

Found one minor error. Used stock is calling for bnsf6951. When downloaded and installed from Train-Sim, it installs as SD40-2_BNSF_6951. It's not really an error. If you look at the table in the readme file, you will see that I have the directories/folders listed that I have them installed to on my system, which is the way they are listed in the templates. Text below is from the readme. "27 rolling stock downloads are needed. Most of these are freeware available at www.trainsim.com. The Santa Fe Cattle pack is available at the Mophouse File Library. This pack was also included in the Howard Sub Template. The table below lists the source files and the directories that they have been placed in. Most of the cars have default directories built into the zip files. Those were used wherever possible. Some did not. The table shown below lists the directories that were used" Also, the way the zip file is configured, it would be in a directory/folder "\trainset\bnsf6951\sd-40-2_bnsf_6951\" which would be incorrect for the sim path. It's not really an error. Yes it is an error. If you attempt to run the template in AG, you get an error message stating to the effect that you are missing bnsf6951. Also, the way the zip file is configured, it would be in a directory/folder "\trainset\bnsf6951\sd-40-2_bnsf_6951\" which would be incorrect for the sim path. This statement is correct. The install requires that you open the zip file and then install the folder named SD-40-2_BNSF_6951 into the Trainset directory. I got around this by copying the contents of the SD-40-2_BNSF_6951 folder and installed them into a new folder called bnsf6951. |
