I have posted an update to Activity Master on our Patches & Updates page. We are now at version 1.6.0. You can get the update, along with instructions as to how to install/apply it, on that page.

As activities get larger and more complex, they push the limits of our software. I received a complaint from a user recently about various run-time errors under Windows XP, and discovered another user had encountered the same thing. When an activity uses over 500 pieces of rolling stock (the one in question had 537) AND, the user has a great many replacements, we could get a run time error or overflow error as the potential replacement matrix exceeded 32767 (the limit for an Integer in the programming language I'm using). So I had to move away from Integers to Long Integers which can represent much larger numbers. This has resolved the overflow error sometimes seen.

Also the way the program used to work, if it encountered an error reading a .wag or .eng file in a user's TRAINSET folder, such as an improperly formatted or terminated file, the user would get an error "reading past the end of file" as the program read beyond the file in an attempt to get the information it was looking for. While our program can't read bad files even now (you may be familiar with the old saying, "Garbage In, Garbage Out"), it handles these much better. Basically each file is read within it's own subroutine, so if there are any errors at all in reading that file, the program will abort trying to read the file but will continue processing other files rather than shutting down. If you want to know what files may have been skipped because of problems like this, just turn check the "generate debug file" box and open the activity you are wanting to modify. After you exit AM, you'll see a file in \Program Files\ActivityMaster that goes through all of the steps the program took and lists any errors or skipped files.

You can get the update on our Patches and Updates page or directly at http://www.skylinecomputing.com/AMUpdate.zip

Please let me know if you continue to get errors, and if so, with which activities and routes.

Thanks,

Steve
