Hello,
I created a Rolling Stock Group and used it to replace an Ohio Rail activity. However, when I did this, it also replaced river barge traffic with an engine and freight cars. Looks very funny. How can I prevent Activity Master from changing river barge traffic? When looking at car types, tug boats are 'diesel' type, and barges are 'u' type. Any ideas? Al |

Jim,
Thanks for the reply. I've used Activity Master for some time now, & know the basics of it (I think). What I like doing is creating different Rolling Stock Groups for various railroads. In this instance, I created a C&O group using C&O engines & passanger cars, all of the Ohio Rail freight cars, and some added C&O freight cars. I then adjust the slider to the far right to replace the stock. This will replace all the original Ohio Rail engines and passanger cars with C&O, while all the Ohio Rail freight stock remains with an occasional C&O freight car randomly added. This has worked fine for various routes, but Ohio Rail is the only route I use that has river traffic. This is where the problem arises with tugs & barges being swaped out with engines & rollingstock. I'm @ work now, but I believe I checked (selected) the barges and tugs in the Group. I will try unchecking them & see what happens. Al |

You can then select the barge as the only replacement for itself. This way, with that car type, it will be the only selection allowed for a barge. The problem with leaving it as 'U', AM will allow all cars to be selected as a replacement. DIESEL, I belive, is the only selection allowed for the Tugs. No matter what type I put in for a locomotive, AM will always change it back to DIESEL. That can be worked aound a bit in your Rolling Stock Group. For your locomotive, such as a Dash 9. only check the locos that you would like to see as replacements and make sure you don't select any thing that is a Tug. Now, for the Tug, only select the Tug, or Tugs, as the possible replacement. Don't select any other diesels. By doing this, the only possible replacement for the Tugs would be the Tugs that you selected. I believe this should work. Jim |
