I am getting region code errors with several of the AG4 templates for the Canton route. These errors point to the tdb file so before I reinstall the whole route I will start by asking the dumb questions. What causes these errors? Has anyone else experienced these errors? Is it something that can be tracked down and fixed without reinstalling the route? It has not been all that long since I used the old template and had no problems.

Hello Doug,
Can you give additional details as for example from which template are you getting the messages or else which can help? I will try to look into the issue and generate some SLG activities trying to find out one reason you may get the messages Thanks Denis. -------------------- Denis Gionet

Hello Doug, Can you give additional details as for example from which template are you getting the messages or else which can help? I will try to look into the issue and generate some SLG activities trying to find out one reason you may get the messages Thanks Denis. Hello Denis, If I open AG and select any of the templates in the new Canton Route template set (Canton Template.zip) then select 'Generate Activity' the creation screen opens with no problem. If I cancel that screen to select another of the new style templates for the same route, I will get the error you see below with a different error code for each template. The code in the attached image below is for the SWLACTCantonEBTemplate when that template is a subsequent selection. For SWLACTCantonLOCALSTemplate, the code will be 100. For SWLACTCantonWBTemplate, the code will be 19. For SWLACTCantonYARDSTemplate, it will be 13. When the old style template (SWLACTCSTG_Template) is a subsequent selection, it opens with no problem. Always, the first new style template selection will open, no matter which one it is and always, all other new style template selections will fail unless I exit AG completely and restart it. Hope this helps. ![]() Doug |

Until I find the ambition to redo everything, I may just have to deal with all the troubles. Doug |

Jim, I just saw your additional note about program file (x86). Guess where my entire installation resides! Until I find the ambition to redo everything, I may just have to deal with all the troubles. Doug Doug, I'm thinking that might be the cause of the issues that you see at times. Starting with Vista, Microsoft changed the way security is handled in the Program Files (64 bit) and x86 Program Files (32 bit) folders. All files, that need to be written by the programs, are now done in the Documents and Settings folder. Older programs, such as Train Simulator, don't do that and this is where the issues come in. It's not really that hard to move the installs. You should be able to copy your install or installs to a safe location. Uninstall the applications and reinstall to the new location. I usually test them to make sure they work. You should then be able to copy your install, that you previously moved to a safe location, over the newest version. That will save you the time of reinstalling everything. I've moved my TS install this way 3 times to 3 different computers without any issues. Jim |

I have moved my installation as you suggested several times in the past for the usual reasons - new hard drive, new computer, etc. and it has always gone well. That doesn't mean I don't procrastinate if it isn't absolutely necessary. It still takes time. I have learned a few work arounds to make life a little easier, like turning UAC off if I am going to run an installme.bat. Having to restart AG to work a different template isn't the end of the world - too bad I didn't try that before asking for help. Denis, I agree with you 100%! It is amazing that msts is still going strong after 10 years. And while I enjoy the graphics and some of the other features in RW, I cannot create complete activities in minutes and with just a few mouse clicks like I can with AG . AG represents one of the greatest contributions to the msts community, IMHO. Thanks to Steve and to the rest of you who do all you can to help make msts more enjoyable for the rest of us. Doug |
