I'm thinking of cutting the umbilical cord to MSTS and running Open Rails without it. Just one thing: Activity Generator and Activity Master (and ConBuilder and Route Riter) are as important to me as the sim itself. So before I take the OR-only plunge I need to ask how to install my utilities so they work with OR. Is it as simple as placing a dedicated utilities folder with the existing utilities where OR can read it, or is it far more complicated than that? I do know that the template-building feature of AG can't work without the MSTS AE, but I have a separate computer for that. I don't want to screw this up, so any guidance will be appreciated.
Thanks! Uncle E |

Hi Uncle E
You don't really need to do anything different at all to use Activity Generator and Activity Master with Open Rails. If you already have them installed, you don't change anything, they are already installed. Nor do you change the location of your routes and TRAINS folders and so on, you just point open rails to where they are. There is now an activity editor for open rails (get it at koniec.org/tsre5/) which is still in early stages. I've also used the consist editor in TSRE to change out activity generator templates, redoing the .csv file of cars after. Christopher |

Thanks Christopher. I was hoping it was far more simple than I originally thought it would be. I appreciate the help!
