Although this route has some sidings marked, there are many more that do not have markers. It wouldn't work very well with Activity Generator. Activities would be very limited unless more sidings had markers.

If the route author will permit us to modify the route files, either Denis or I could set up the track names and spread the markers in preparation for a template.

I have sent a request for permission to do so to the author.

His email is in the unzipped route readme in folder Authors Files

This is the route author's permission to make the template !!!

"I don't know what you mean with "activity template", (sorry, my english is not good), and I don't know skyline. Could you tell me a bit more about?
In any case, I released the route for other people to enjoy it... so of course I give my permission.
Just let me know what you've done, I would be glad to see the results!"

Best regards,
Julien

Did you specifically ask if we can modify the route files? It sounds to me that he does not understand that this is what we are requesting. Creation of a template alone does not require route file modification, and thus does not require an author's permission. But to enhance the track markers to permit reasonable activities requires modifications to world files plus the track database, etc., all of which belong to Julien.

If and when he grants this permission, the person (myself or whoever) who modifies the route will need a copy of that permission to include with the modified files, whether the modifications are released at train-sim or here or wherever.

No disrespect intended

This is what I sent him mentioning specifically changing the route files since it was from the folks that make those changes.
It seems he does understand

I also sent him this link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=In0O_JVMQ2Q

The replies are by template makers.

What they will do is make the route so unlimited activities can be generated with their activity generator.

*****Perhaps you(norm) should contact Julien yourself - then I'm sure it will remove all doubt ****

I have also contacted him again - do you approve of this wording ? (constructively)

Dear Julien

SORRY to bother you again

It seems that the admins don't think I asked for enough.
So If you could please read the following and give permission to alter the route files so Admin will approve this request.

THIS is what they replied to me....

THANKS! I appreciate your effort to acquire Julien's permission. Once it is received, we'll get busy with the route!

The following is directly from Julien

"I read the message and I give permission to modify the route for the project you told me about.
That means :
-For this project and not another one.
-Permission is given to change only the files who's author is me.
-I ask you to send me the modified route, for my archives.

And I give you my permission to translate this into good english...

Is it okay like that?

Something important :
I'm preparing an upgrade to improve the route and correct some details I saw in the version 3.
I'll send you the files so you'll have the latest and best version to work with.

Waiting for your answer."
Regards,
Julien

Denis and I are discussing this effort. Receiving this permission is key. THANKS!

Well, we have great news. Julien has agreed to mark the sidings himself, which will make the outcome more "authentic", since he is the route author. Denis will complete this template. The big advantage here is that Denis and Julien both speak French! I am sure that Denis will have more to say.

Many thanks to bettyboop for pursuing Julien's permission to enhance this route for activities, and hence for an AG4 template!

Hello to all,

As Norm have mentioned a few days ago, I have taken some time writing to Julien, explaining all possible information about AG and about the request to mark all sidings. I am glad Julien agreed to do himself the marking and has understood well ( in French of course) the mechanics of AG. One note about the updated version according to Julien: we will have to be patient, it will take a while since the labelling will be a long task. There are lots of sidings left to be marked and many of you know it is a huge route with 600 miles of main and secondary lines. Also, he is working on a updated version of the route.

I have started checking the route and stock available. A big avantage with the Pentecosta route is the large availability of stock packs created by Julien customized for the route. Only eight downloads will be needed, but in these eight, the stock is large. Of course this can change at anytime as some new stock gets released or some new findings while exploring the route.

In the route there are some areas where there a lot of twisting tracks and sharp curves. I have done some driving along such a stretch and would recommend to have shorter stock in these areas. This I will try to figure out some solutions once the template construction starts. It looks that the timeframe of the route may be set in the early seventies. Stocks available seem to serve best the era. Of course this may change with time.

Well, that's the news so far and will continue to explore to get to know more of the route.

Here are a few shots of the route in the mountains

So,in the meantime, we'll wait....

Denis

Hello to all,

While waiting for the oncoming update of the route, here are shots of some areas I have covered to give an idea of the route to those who do not know much about this fictional route.

Enjoy

Hi,

Is there progress made on this template - ??

Thanks.

Hello Bettyboop,

As specified by Julien Cachemaille when I spoke to him and mentioned in an earlier post, the Release of v4 would add the remaining names to the unnamed sidings. That alone will take a lot of work to do. He mentioned that, in addition to the sidings issue, he would update in other ways the route but all this will take time. So I am waiting the release of his next version and as long we are waiting for the release, I can't start the template yet.
