Hello to all,
While working on the Ozark Northern Template, I have decided to re-load the A&O Sub route and started using it but found that the available template package was done a while ago for AG3, not for AG4. Since Steve has done it a while ago the package, I have asked Steve his permission to have a template set up for AG4 and I thank him for allowing me to proceed ahead with a new template. The templates are finished and are being tested. About 70 serviceable sidings. Three templates will be available; WB, EB and YARDS templates. AI traffic will be present and will model the one done for the Ozark Northern Route, with the expected passing time of oncoming trains at meeting points. It will be to the player to determine the proper location to meet the oncoming AI. There is one difference to the previous template when meeting trains. The player train in the A&O Sub will take the siding and the AI will keep staying on the mainline. I had some traffic issues with the timing of some AI trains . For example, one expected meet at Junction was expected at 10h09 while checking the AE. On the real thing, once it came 20 minutes late while on one other occasion the train was there one hour earlier, colliding with it at Walden, half an hour even before reaching Junction. I believe it may have to do with track nodes during the time the AI were taking the siding. Crossing some nodes seemed to be like giving one of the trains "super turbo charged engines" to leap greatly in speed and not hold the timing in the map. I have decided to have all AI trains stay on the mainline and it seem to work in timing so far in my early testing. The YARDS template will allow some work inside some areas, Urbanette, Berryville, Eureka Springs and even in Seligman, which has only 4 sidings. One activity inside the Seligman area took me about 50 minutes. The Eureka Springs and Berryville locations will allow you to have some of the cars delivered respectively at the Junction and Freeman sidings and left there to be coupled with some passing mainline trains. On the other way, at both locations, the T6 ( the player train for the YARDS Template) will be able to recover some cars left over by some passing mainline trains to be carried inside the working area. Take note that in both locations, two regions have been set in regards to the marker’s orientation to help pickup work. In Eureka Springs for example, you are suggested to take cars from the Eureka Springs-UP region and bring them to the Junction siding to be left there. For the pickup of cars at Junction, you are suggested to set your cars at the Eureka Springs-DOWN region. The same principle applies for the Berryville location (OUT and IN regions). Even in the YARDS Template, you will have to take note of some passing trains at some key locations such as in Freeman and Junction. In the meantime, here are some shots of some acts already generated by AG Will update later -------------------- Denis Gionet

Hi to all,
Well, testing of the route is going very well. Tests done have shown AI Traffic is holding to its expected schedule ( close to 1 minute) as you will see in some of the following shots with the time displayed (F10). I hope to release it in the next days to Steve. Enjoy, WB Template from Urbanette to Seligman The Traffic Patterns Map for the A&O Sub route Start WB at the Superior Lime plant The next two WB to Grandview The first meet at Grandview On the Bridge near Beaver The second meet at Walden EB Template from Berryville to Urbanette Between Berryville and Freeman The meet at Freeman as scheduled -------------------- Denis Gionet

Hi Chandler,
The two additional downloads (Caboose and Scenic trainset) other than the route package are part of the VSC's product updates and you can find the info inside the VSC's forum under the following: 3DTrains Forums » Strategic Partners » V Scale Creations » Product Updates The direct links to download both files have been provided in the templates readme file. Simply click on them to download. Both creations are from Gaétan Bélanger, who have provided the stock for the A&O route. Hope this helps -------------------- Denis Gionet

Hi Al,
Happy to hear that it works well. It took some head scratching (not hair pulling! ) to pull this out. Glad it finally works. Right now, I am working in trying to do the same with the Blackfoot 2 route template which I have done a while ago. This is where the idea of AI traffic in a dark zone came out but was unsuccessful to implement it with the route. Now that I have found the way, that's where I am focusing my efforts as of now. Time will tell if I succeed or not. -------------------- Denis Gionet

Hi to all,
I have sent to Steve an updated template package for the A&O Sub: I have added two extra paths which will allow the user to start the template with up to 25 cars at Walden (for EB) and Freeman (for WB) to simulate a freight train already in its run and preparing to resume the trip after having a train meet a few minutes before. For specific reasons, it is not possible to have a long train at start at Seligman (because of the GWV) and Urbanette (no passing track). Even at Freeman, you can still have some work done at Berryville, return to your remaining cut and resume the run. Steve gave me the idea of having some extra paths with cars at start and found it a great idea despite the limitations as quoted above. Some additional details have been added to the readme file. Steve seems to be enjoying again the route and myself too have been feeling the same. Should see it soon in the templates page -------------------- Denis Gionet

Hello ddedicos,
Steve had e-mailed me to send him a re-packaged template set for the AOSub. I have unzipped the re-packaged set and looks good on my side. I have sent him the re-zipped set. Steve may have replaced the older package but am not sure. You may try to download the package again and try to unzip it. If the same result, will try to confirm you the replacement. Steve is expected to reply to confirm the change. -------------------- Denis Gionet

For whatever reason, I was able to unzip this template on the third try.....sorry for the fuss, must have been at my end!! Thanx Steve and Denis No fuss, I had the same unzipping problem with the original also. I didn't try it 3 times though! At any rate a corrected version has been posted. I think it was a WinZip checksum error. -------------------- Steve Davis
