I emailed the template creator (Peter) who suggested I post here regarding this problem.

(This is for the template available for Newark & Jersey City PRR section)

When I tried to use SWLACTNNJ_PRRTemplate.csv to generate an activity in AG4.2.0, I get the following message:

"Missing service file: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Train Simulator\ROUTES\usa_NJC\SERVICES\NNJ_PRRTemplate.srv was not found."

I did a search of the zipped template file NNJ_PRR_AG4.zip and there was no .srv files included. I can run other NNJ templates such as NNJ_NYCTemplate.csv without any problems. Peter said because there are no AI trains in the NNJ_PRR template there is no need for service files (srv), and he has yet to run in AG version 4.2.0. I'm puzzled.

I looked in the NNJ_PRRTemplate.act at the Player_Service_Definition section and it lists NNJ_PRRTemplate, so if I understand this section correctly, MSTS will expect to find NNJ_PRRTemplate.srv for the player service. If I am wrong, please do not hesitate to correct me on this. Any help will be greatly appreciated as I was really looking forward to generating activities from this template.

Thanks.

Glenn

You are right, all activities need at least a player service file. That particular file is indeed for the Player Service. Peter if you read this you can reply and post the .srv file right here to the forum or email it to me and I will repackage the template and repost.

Thanks,

Steve

Steve,
Is the service file imbedded in the *.apk file when it is compiled? I noticed the *.apk is missing in the zip file.

Thanks.

Peter,

Sorry I may have done something wrong. I didn't realize an .apk file was involved in this. Yes the service is in the .apk file, and I may have inadvertantly left this out of the zip somehow.

I am traveling today and don't have access to my original templates. Could you please post that .apk file as a response to this message thread (this forum allows attachments) or, email me the full template including the .apk and I will repost? I just can't get it off my home machine today. I will be home tomorrow afternoon but if I get this via email I can update from the road.

Thanks,

Steve

Sorry, you are correct. I need to make the "Uploads" directory writable. Will do this tonight. Meantime I have re-uploaded this template to include this file.

Since your template is complete except for the service information, it would be easier for users if you could include all the files (in this case, just "SERVICES" but if there was AI traffic, also "TRAFFIC") rather than using an .apk, since some users have problems with .apk files.

Glenn, please re-download this and then just unpack the .apk file using the MSTS activity unpackager.

Thanks,

Steve

Thanks, guys!

I'll down load the template as soon as I get home from work this evening.

I have fixed the forum so it will accept uploads. The server won't accept an .apk file so I zipped this. All members can post .zip files or picture files to this forum now.

Attached File  NNJ_PRRTemplateAPK.zip ( 7.69K ) Number of downloads: 140
