Many of you may have seen Cody Winkelman's new Midland Valley route at Mophouse. I have the route, and will begin work on the template soon. If someone else wants to do it, please speak up!

Hello Norm, A quick question; what RR operated along the route? Denis Denis, I believe that this is a MoPac route. This being a Mophouse route, my hope was to populate it with Mophouse downloads exclusively, if practical. But if you do the template, you are free to do as you please. I have many other projects going just now, so have at it if you want! -------------------- Norman

I have found also in the Mophouse site a couple of Midland Valley's Gp9's. I will also examine using some MoPac material and look into it. Have started earlier looking at its history and will find some appropriate material for the template. -------------------- Denis Gionet

Have started earlier looking at its history and will find some appropriate material for the template. Denis, Here is some research that might help. P. 42 of my 1985 MoPac Employees Timetable lists the Midland Valley Sub as part of MoPac's Kansas Division. This Sub, however, is located in Oklahoma, whereas Cody's route is in Kansas (near Wichita). The 1985 Midland Valley Sub runs SE to NW from Panama OK, through Muskogee and Tulsa, to a northernmost end at Barndall OK, and is "aimed" at Wichita. A check of the 1948 RR Atlas shows the route continuing from Barndall through Pawhuska OK (southernmost part of Cody's roue) to Wichita KS. So I believe that this route was a MoPac spinoff. My idea would be to operate using the MV locos as the player train, with MoPac traffic. Or the template could be set up in an earlier, all MoPac era. I hope this helps. -------------------- Norman

BTW, currently the MV Sub is part of UP as you might have guessed. A few years ago when I still lived in Tulsa, Steve Davis and I chased trains along this OK portion of the MV Sub at least once (probably several times). -------------------- Norman

After some additional research and checking the stock availability, I will go ahead with MoPac. There are too little downloads available with the earlier era. -------------------- Denis Gionet

Hi to all,
Following some additional information given to me by Codeman, the route builder, I have reconsidered my initial decision and am going with the MVR , KO&G and some other stock in order to blend with the era of the route, which is around the mid-sixties at the latest. The main player engines will be two MRV Geeps. 12 downloads only needed for the route so far. An issue had arisen about 2 sidings in Pawhuska which caused crashes when attempting to turn their switches. I had to remove the sidings for AG. I have reported the problem in the Mophouse forum and the source of the problem was finally found today by Mervyn, one of the members. Cody will update the route, including the TDB file. For this reason, I will hold back the work on the template. The WB was finished and began testing. I will resume once the update is loaded. Here are screenshots of AG-generated activities Enjoy the shots Denis -------------------- Denis Gionet

I am sure that this will be a fun route to operate using your AG template. And I know that the users will appreciate your efforts to resolve the track problem. It will be worth waiting for the corrected .tdb in order to have better operation at Pawhuska. -------------------- Norman

The sidings were tested and are OK.The sidings were put back into the serviceable sidings for the template So, I'm back in business. -------------------- Denis Gionet

Enjoy the shots as the templates are now finished and are being tested.
Going WB (forgot the exact location!) Waiting clearance at Wichita going EB picking up in Wichita During maneuvering in Glenville, a Rock Island train kept the player train separated. Extra precaution will be taken here because of failing signals on the MVR line here at the junction. Waiting for a Frisco consist to back up to the ATSF South yards in Arkansas City -------------------- Denis Gionet

This looks like a keeper, but I can't for the life of me find MopacGP18.zip I have looked in the file stash locomotives forum but to no avail. Anyone tell me what I am doing wrong. Thanks Chandler -------------------- Chandler

Hi Chandler,
I am a bit surprised to be unable to find it myself as of today. I believe it was there last month. I have sent a PM to Ken Plaza, Mophouse's file librarian to have a look at it. I'll get back to you as soon as possible with an answer. For the time being, can you change with Conbuilder or AG the MidlandValleyWBTraffic1 and 3 consists? They are the only consists I believe to have the GP18's. Glad you are enjoying the route and hope you'll get around with the issue. Will do my best to assist. Thanks -------------------- Denis Gionet

If Ken says that it has been removed, then perhaps we should replace the locos in the consists, and post a new template with the revised files. -------------------- Norman

Hi Norm and Chandler,
I am back home after being away three days. I will provide a replacement to the missing MoPac loco. It shouldn't be too difficult to do. There are some replacements available. Will try to send Steve the updated package tonight or tomorrow to be uploaded as soon as possible in the templates page. Thanks for your follow up -------------------- Denis Gionet

Just to tell that an updated template package has been sent to Steve tonight to replace the download requirements.
The missing MoPac GP18 is now replaced by the mop-234.zip file at Train-sim. It is a MoPac GP7, only used in two consists. For those who already have the templates and are experienced users, simply change the MidlandValleyWBTraffic1 and 3 consists files with the updated loco file with CB or AM. My apologies for any inconvenience -------------------- Denis Gionet
