If no one else has started this route, I'd be more than happy to work on this one. A quick look shows that much of the track is the same as Cajon Pass.

There seems to quite a few changes someplace...the original Cajon Pass had 485 entries as far as station and siding names .... this new version has 862 entries.

Most of the mainline outside Barstow to Hobart looks pretty much the same. There have been some additions to the trackage thru Cajon Pass, the UP connection and the third track. There have been changes to Barstow Yard, Hobart and the area around LAUPT along with some others. The good thing is almost all the sidings are named. Most still carry the same ID as they did in the update that was done for AG. Once I take a good look, I'll see how much can be used from Cajon.

Just an update on my progress. I'm making headway. but with the holiday season I only get about and hour a day to work on this. I have all the marker cars placed on the template. There are over 450 sidings on this route for switching so it will be a very busy route. For rolling stock, the plan is to pull cars from the templates of Cajon, Needles and the freeware Surfliner to minimize the number of downloads for those that are using them.

I'm also debating using some Surfliner equipment from 3DTrains depending on how many of you might have them. If you could email or PM me, that will help me decide.

Hi Jim, I was wondering if you could give us an update on the 3MLS route and ETA for the template. Not trying to be pushy I know the holiday season changes everyone's schedules.

I live close to the Hesperia Airport and my backyard overlooks the tracks so I'm really looking forward to using this template even though all the acts. I create will be for the UP. Thanks for doing this template.

I've been moving along on the templates rather slowly. The holidaze were pretty intense here. With our extended family, there were things going on from Thanksgiving all the way to January 7th. Christmas no. 2 in our family. I've also have had trouble with my left eye the past month. After 8 hours of working looking at a screen, I can't take too much more here at home. What has been completed is the most time consuming things. All the cars have been placed on the sidings. I'm currently running the line in my Fairmont Speeder checking the placement of the all the marker cars. Just want to make sure they don't cover any roads etc. I have some paths completed, but will be adding more as I go along. As for rolling stock, I have used some from Cajon, Needles Sub and the Surfliner route. I wanted to use what most people have rather than create many more downloads. There might be a few new ones but not many. I'm thinking about adding some of the Surfliner and Metrolink equipment. No one has responded to a previous post regarding them, so I might make seperate set of templates with and without them. Right now I am hoping to be done by the beginning of February if I can continue at the current pace.

Ok, time for an update on the template. Finally! I have a Westbound test train out of Barstow Yard heading towards Hobart. I need to get a handle on the traffic patterns that I have incorporated into this one. I'm currently putting a lsit together of all the rolling stock used. Much has been used from Needles, Cajon and Surliner templates. I've been a bit slow, but had to resolve some issues the I had encountered along the way with the route. I had about a dozen sidings that showed up in the template files that were no where to be found in the route along with some duplicates that didn't make sense. I had to sort all these out and run some tests to see which were actually legitimate for use. I've also had some nagging issues with my one eye since Thanksgiving. That, in itself, has made reading and computer work a real challenge. If anyone would like to beta test the Westbound template, I should have it pretty much complete within the next week. Just PM or email me.

I have the templates finished and will be passing them on to Steve later this weekend. If someone would like to test the install, please send me a PM and I will send you a copy of the template. I'd like two people. One that does not have the 3D Trains Surfliner and Metrolink files and one the does. I created 2 templates, one with and without the 3D Trains Metrolink and Surfliner equipment.
