Skyline User's Forum _ Activity Generator _ Work order generated but does not appear in the sim.

Posted by: prr4ever Nov 8 2013, 02:53 PM

Using the Rollins Pass templates I can create activities with Act Gen. The work order appears and can be printed. The activity will run. However when I open F11 in the activity and open work order there is nothing there. Thus there is no log of pickups and set outs and I never get a WO completion. This happens only with the Rollins Pass/Moffit Road template. Any ideas as to what is wrong here? Nice route, would like to get a completion after several hours+ of work.

Dave,

I've run into this before. The 'Template' activity is missing an 'Action Event' designating a car pickup. It's a pretty easy fix if you know how to use the Activity Editor. Open the activity in the Activity Editor, add one pickup event and select one car for pickup. Save the activity and then go back to Activity Generator and create another activity.

Thanks Jim,
Sounds easy enough. I do know how to make simple activities with the AE. I never bothered to do much with it except to add some extra loose consists in an already made consist (not from ACT GEN) or to make a few new paths. I'll get right on whatyou mention here.

Jim,
There is a problem, it seems, with making an action event. All 4 templates for Rollins Pass have one action event which is "Stop at last station". Thus I can not open a "new" action event to crearte a pick up. When I click on new event it simply opens the one already made and there is no way to add another. Granted I am not that familiar with AE so I may be missing something.

Dave:

This is my template , sorry for the error.

Delete that action event and click "new". There is a drop down menu in the new window that opens, Click "pick up cars" and select any car and click ok.

Click save and then try to generate an activity. If everything is ok you must do this with the other 3 templates.

Jim, sorry for the question but I can not seem to find how to delete the action events. I just have never used that part of the AE and I have not found any tutorial that explains the Action events.

This is not Jim:

Right click on the action event that is there and select delete.

Right click on the event and select 'Delete'. You should be able to create new events by just clicking on 'New' at the top of the 'Action Event's window. The 'Stop at Last Station' is a default event that TS automatically adds. It doesn't hurt anything as far as running the activity. However, it will show that it wasn't completed but doesn't affect the activity ending at the proper place.

Right clicking does nothing. Nothing drops down or opens. I attached a screen shot but I had to reduce the size so it may not be clear. I clicked "New Event" in the action events window. This brought up the "Action Event Setup" window. In this window at the top is "Stop at last station". That is all that appears there, no other choices. Bottom entry is "Activity completed". Right clicking anywhere in either of these windows does nothing at all.

Dave:

To the right of "stop at last station" is an arrow which is a dropdown menu. Click on the arrow and choose "pick up cars" and then click the ADD button. A window will open and say select a car. Click OK and left click on any car and then click OK on the bottom and then click save in the file menu.

The activity template should now produce the results you want.

Yes, I know about the drop down arrows but nothing dropped down.

Well, I finally got it all straightened out. I had to overwrite the BIN 8.xxx dll's and put in the Bin 7.xxxdlls. This let me add actions. However, after doing that the loose consists did not show up in the activity. Had to run AEFix which then brought everything back to normal.
