Hello to all,

More than seven years ago, work on creating a template for Whitefish 9 began. However,at the time, rumors on an oncoming Whitefish 10 led to stopping the project, prefering to wait for WF10 instead of working two templates for WF9 and WF10. Over the years, no sign of release. A few years ago, an attempt to restart a template project for WF9 ended abruptly. An issue on WF9 prevented AG to create the SWLACT and SWLTDB files, critical for creating a template package.

A few weeks ago, Moe Smith has been in contact with Rene Rump, creator of the Whitefish route through its different versions over the years. Rene has sent Moe the finished route and has sent me the link to download it. However, I had to attempt creating a mini template to find out if the issue that scrapped WF9 has been resolved with WF10. The answer is YES. The project was finally given the GO ahead. In addition, Moe has received permission from Rene to add names to some remaining unnamed sidings throughout the route. The route files as well as the unnamed sidings update are now available in the Trainsim site. Thanks Moe for your efforts in retrieving the route and updating the route with named sidings! Much appreciated.

Selection of the rolling stock for the route template began last week and is now finished. Out of 30 downloads, only one payware will be required, that is the SLI BN engine pack. All the remaining downloads are from the Trainsim site. All the engines (except the MILW locomotives) that will be used will use the BN engine shape files. Timeframe is around 1975, during the time the MILW operated the section between Newport and Metaline Falls, a few years before the POVA railroad took control of this section in 1978. Also in 1971 was built the Flathead tunnel, that is now part of the route. The construction of the Libby Dam required the relocation of 60 miles of the Burlington Northern Railroad tracks which ended with the construction of the Flathead Tunnel, which is one of the longest tunnels in the United States.

The Railroads involved will be the BN, UP, MILW and CP. As for the CP, it will exchange cars between the UP Eastport and the CP Highgate yards at the Canada-US border. Close to 20 Traffic consists has been created for traffic purposes to accomodate the templates.

I have started adding markers on the route sidings. So far the section done is East of Columbia Falls and South to Somers.A lot of work ahead but looks good so far.

Will update later as the project progresses.

Hello to all,

Here is an update to the template project.

But first, thanks Craig for your updated system map, much appreciated!

So far, fourteen (14) templates have been done. On the BN the mainline WB & EB, also templates depicts switching in Libby, Conkelly, Somers and Bonners Ferry. For the UP, there are switching templates in Eastport and Sandpoint. For the CP;a switching template between the Kingsgate and the UP Eastport yards. For the MILW, the trackage between Newport and Metaline Falls includes five templates: NB & SB mainline, a Usk local template and two switching templates in Newport and Metaline Falls. Many locals templates are still to be worked out and maybe more...

Here are some shots from the the SLG-generated templates (all from Open Rails):

Will update later as it progresses

Hell to all,

Just to confirm the templates are now done, twenty five of them. All that remains is to write the readme file. The newly done ones include WB and EB runs through the Haskell pass between Kalispell and Libby.

Here are some additional images from diverse SLG-generated activities

Will update later

Hello again,

Just to confirm that the WF10 template package is now ready to pass on to our users.

Again thanks to Benny for helping me with testing the templates, much appreciated.

Pending its release in the templates page, I will make it available, the same way as with the RMD West route, via OneDrive. Simply write me a request to download the template set and I will provide the link to download it. My Email address is photoman_57 (at) hotmail (dot) ca

Here's the image that should be seen in the templates page once uploaded.

Will confirm once uploaded in the templates page

Hi to all,

Just to confirm that Steve had uploaded the WF10 template package in the templates page.

For those who have received the template package via OneDrive, it is suggested to download it again from the templates page. Thanks to Moe Smith, a correction has been made to SWLTDB file for the MILW USK Template.

Thanks Steve for your assistance and happy trainsimming to all.
