The "Tristate_Rails" route has been under development for some time now. I have been following it's progress since 2010 when it was called the "Middletown and Unionville Railway". I have been given updates as they become available by Walter Conklin for the planning of my template.

The name "Tristate_Rails" comes from the fact it operates in the states of New York, New Jersery and Pennsylvania.

On 2-17-11 it was merged with Richard Shirey's 1940 version of the "Lehigh and Hudson River Railway" which has several templates of it's own.

It is now being merged with the "Lehigh Valley Railway". This is a immense project that is still in it's infant stage.

I received from Walter the latest update by Doug Relyea which is a stand alone version used to create the merger with the "Lehigh Valley Railway"

As the tdb is established I will be able to start the rough template but is a ways off yet.

The PRR Eastern template although half done is on hold while the designers of the route upgrade the Altoona area. This is proving to be worth the wait.

I have learned that the PRR will be extended to Chicago as the "PRR Western Route". This will be a new route.

For now I will be working on my template for the "Surfliner-2".

Sounds good, Pete.

Out of curiosity, what tracks/railroads have been added to link the Lehigh Valley route to the L&HR/New York lines?

Nick,

To answer your question. on the L&NE portion of the LV the line from Benders jct. will be extended to meet up with the TSR's current end of the L&NE at Pen Argyl. It is also proposed to extend the LV's current L&NE's Martis Creek branch to meet the TSR's line at Martins Creek (from the previous incorporation of the L&HR route). It is also proposed to extend the L&HR to Phillipsburg, thus incorporating the entire railroad. The BelDel has been extended to where it meets the DL&W line at Manunka Chunk and also the DL&W lines have been extended and connected. When the joinings and extensions are complete the L&HR will be complete between Maybrook and Phillipsburg, the L&NE will be complete between Maybrook and just past the Lehigh Gap. the Erie will run from Port Jervis eat almost to Suffern, the DL&W will run from Port Morris west to Portland and there will be all of the NYS&W's Hanford branch plus the M&U line to Middletown, and also quite a bit of O&W lines in the area, as well as all the lines that were origionally in the LV route.

Paul:

I was putting together my response when I read your post. I never could have answered it anywhere as well as you did.

Thanks for your help,

Pete

Pete,

I am just glad that someone will be doing templates for the route as all the old ones will or already have, become useless for those portions of the route as there is allot of rebuilding going on all over the place, new branches and all sorts of goodies.

Paul:

This route will be special to me, I live in Maybrook. When I moved here in 1973 a good bit of the yard was still there. I can see what's left from my porch but mostly Yellow Freight.
