Created an activity using the Wupper Express 11 Templates. However, the activity did not work properly. I also tried to convert all the switches in the route to manual and that did not work. It also hung up activity generator. This may be all my fault since I haven't done this in several years.

Can someone please help.

Thanks

Hello dsweiner,

It has been a while the last time that I had the Wupper 11 route and template package installed in my PC. Had to limit the number of routes in my hard disk. I have re-installed the route and stock and am glad to enjoy it again. Have a better PC now compared to the time I worked on WP11.

Can you explain the problem you are encountering with AG and/or the Wupper Templates? I'll try to help since I have done the templates close to a few years ago.

Did the problem occured while trying to load the activity or is it before creating the SLG-Generated activity?

I'll be glad to assist you concerns

Hi:
Thank you for responding. I think Wupper 11 is a great route.

I tried to generate a very simple activity using AG. However it does not permit me to get to the first pickup. I've tried to attach the workorder and .APK file but i keep getting the message "Upload failed. Please ask the administrator to check the settings and permissions".
How do I go about uploading these files. They could be very helpful to you in helping me.email address. Perhaps if we use email it might prove easier.

Thanks,

David

Hello David,

You can send me the workorder files at photoman_57[at]hotmail.com to have it examined. I will get back to you and work it out through the forum as some of our colleagues may chip in with some of their suggestions to your concern.

When I have made AG created my first activity yesterday for the WP11, make sure the railfill sliders are low enough to have it successfully uploaded. I have forgotten this and despite my PC being a 3.2Ghz with 2GB of RAM, I have ended twice with a failure to load because of a message of being unable to "create the <rigidbody>... " etc... Remember WP11 has 542 sidings to work with and with this huge track database and all its details to run the route, this takes much energy from any PC. After creating my third AG-generated activity while lowering again the railfill specs, I was finally able to load and start the activity.

As for the manual switching feature of AG, remember that the WP11 Track database file (TDB) is among the biggest track databases in MSTS (15-16MB). The only three I know having bigger TDB's in MSTS are the PRR-Eastern (about 34MB), the Monon route (about 15-16) and the Petit Arbre line (about 20MB). I recall in my earlier topic of a few years back that it took close to a minute to make the WP11 conversion. You should see two windows during the process, the first confirming the backup of the Wupper11 TDB and second to confirm that all switches has been converted to manual. From there you are ready to load the activity with all your sidings manual.

If you can't see the second window, I may suspect that TDB file's attribute had become a read-only file. If such the case, you will have to go to the Windows explorer to the TDB file and unclick the "read-only feature" from it.

And, just a reminder, AG creates an activity file having the prefix SLG-xxxxxx, xxxxxxbeing the route ACT file.It also creates the workorder in *.txt or (I think) in Excel sheet formats (*.xls). AG do not use the APK format file, used to package any activity in MSTS.

So, that's a start and, if still required, send me your work order and will try check it out and will get back to you, myself or my colleagues with their suggestions.

Hi Denis:
I've already sent you the workorder file and activity file by email. Unfortunately I sent the Activity as an .APK file? How should I have sent it?

I have a 3.0Ghz with 2GB of Ram. Never had a problem loading any activity. Checked the TDB file and it is not READ ONLY. When I click on switches manual I get the first window then it just hangs. When I check the TASK MANAGER it says it is NOT RESPONDING.

Thanks,

David

P.S. What type of files can one send as an ATTACHMENT?

Hi again David,

I am responding from work right now to your last reply. I'll try to get back later. Can you tell me what version of AG do you have? The latest is the 4.2.12.

That's rather odd to see the manual conversion hanging up like that and the TDB not being read-only. I'll try to search into the former forum topics to see if there has been a similar situation with one of our users of AG. The answer mat be found there or one of our experienced members may have the answer to the problem.

Will try to get back once the (APK) activity file installed and will try running the act.

Thanks

Hi to all,

David and I were able to resolve the issue following a private conversation online. During the discussion, the idea of maps for the Wupper 11 template came on the surface. Following the discussion, I have promised David to do my possible in trying to create a map system for the route.

I have started last night the process of creating a complete system map for the Wupper template and will be working as hard as possible to bring up this pack which is estimated at about 150 maps. There will be two main network maps and detailed maps for each of the regions and sidings with the marker's orientation to help in work selection and during operations. I believe this map system will bring a new dimension in using the WP11 more extensively.

Here are the two network maps to help the user having an overall view of the area.

More to come

Well, I have decided to give it a long shot in doing the whole network map last night and tonight and was able to complete the more than 110 maps which compose the Wupper 11 template map system. It took quite some time and effort but was able to finish it and I was able to send the updated template package tonight to Steve for uploading. It is the largest map network I have ever done for any route template. Some minor changes to the ACT file were also done.

So for those of you who were waiting for a complete map network, here it is and hope you will enjoy using the route even more.

Cheers

The updated template, along with the maps, can now be found on the Templates page, or directly at http://www.skylinecomputing.com/downloads/...%20Template.zip
