Hi to all,

Following Carey Steven's Seaboard Air Line upgrade on his route recently released in the Skyline Computing Home page, I have started working on a new template project for the upgraded route.

What changes have been done on this upgrade?

The ACL section between Bradenton and Tampa has been fully sceniced. Also the ACL trackage between Tampa and Plant City has been linked. Although a part of the trackage needs to be sceniced (about 15 miles starting from the Acela yard and going East), I intend to put markers on industries and put traffic along to create a template covering this area.

Also Tyler Bundy has created low-poly phosphate strings of cars to allow me to fill the numerous phosphate yards that are part of this route. That will bring more realism to the template project and keep a reasonable level of performance. A big thanks Tyler for your hard work on these!

On my first attempt to start the project in May, I have encountered an issue which caused the markers to disappear completely in the MSTS Activity Editor. Result: I had to re-install MSTS and had to restart the whole template project. Last week, I have restarted completely the project and am happy to confirm the whole SAL section has been complete, regarding the placement of markers, the building of the SWLTDB file and the car attributes to each siding on the SAL railroad system. The SAL trackage contains 280 serviceable sidings and what remains is now the ACL trackage between Bradenton and Plant City.

I will be toggling between three templates projects: the PRR-2, the SALv3 and the newly released FJ&Gv2 route.

Will be posting as this projects advances.

Good Morning:

I have downloaded the updated route and installed but I came up with over 200 missing rolling stock after using Train Store. Also no consists were included with activities. Anyone know where we could get a list of the required stock so we could get a head start on collecting.

Thanks for all you do. I am having a ball on the FJ&G and can’t wait for the new template.

Chandler

Hi Chandler,

I have checked again the route for any indication of the required rollingstock and found nothing.

Pending release of the upgraded template package to v3, You may try, for the new route, using the template package for v2 with the rolling stock used for v2.

Most of the template package should run on the newly route upgrade. In some areas, especially at the phosphate yards, some name changes to some sidings ( duplicate names) that were done on v2 will not be done for v3. This may cause some messages or issues, this I am not sure of the result myself.

If you want to try this, make sure to install the route on another Train Simulator folder to keep your previous route ( v2) and template (v2).

Hello to all,

After marking the 280 serviceable sidings for the oncoming SAL templates, the same has been done for the ACL templates. 150 sidings have been marked, that brings the total of serviceable sidings for the entire project to 430 sidings. Following that part of the project, I have been working on the ACL templates first and work on them is now complete. There are 10 ACL templates, 5 locals (WB, EB. NB. SB & Port Sutton area), 3 switching templates ( Port Manatee, Mosaic Fertilizer & Uceta Yards). There is also one for switching inside the ACL loco shops and the final one, bringing passenger cars to the Tampa Union Station (TUS)

The following pictures are from the SALv3PASS Template.

Here is the scenario: Your 2 F-units are required to assemble your train (maximim of 8 passenger cars) at the Uceta yards and bring it to the TUS. Unfortunately, some of the TUS platforms are under track maintenance. That means you are required to set your train inside the REA unloading track 9 siding, a temporary setout track for the passenger train, until you are authorized to switch your passerger train to the first available platform. The activity ends once the train is set inside the REA unloading track 9 siding.

Hello to all,

Just to confirm that the work is finished for the SALv3 template project. Compared to the previous route version, the number of templates has risen from 25 to 32 templates and the number of serviceable sidings in the project is close to 450.

I will start testing the route and hope to have it released in the next weeks or so. Benny is currently testing the ACL templates, so I will be checking the ones for the SAL network.

Will try to include some shots as testing progresses

Hello to all,

Sorry for the delay with the project.

Just to confirm the Template project has been completed and most of the templates have been tested but not all of them. Benny, who was testing the ACL templates had some issues with his computer and was not able to complete all the testing of the templates. I have not received news from him since my last e-mail. Although testing of all templates have not been completely achieved, I feel comfortable to have it released now.

Here are some pics of some of the SLG-generated templates done during the testing.
