Hello everyone, I finished running my first AG4 activity and I must say, it sure was a lot of fun. Many thanks go out to Steve Davis and Norm Beveridge for all there efforts and hard work.

I am currently working on getting the 1950's version of the Alma template running. However, I seem to be having some trouble getting MSTS to recognize the SP Gon 92744 wag file. I have read the "Readme" file several times and thought I was doing what the author of this car said to do to enable different loads but MSTS keeps bringing up the following message no matter what.

"Error reading train database file File: Trains\Trainset\SP_Gon_92744\SP_Gon_92744GRVL.wag"

I have tried making separate folders with the different wag file in each folder for the different loads.

Since the car comes with an MT wag file and a load wag file within the same folder, I have tried changing out the load wag file which read sp_g-50-11_parts_logs.s to sp_g-50-11_parts_grvl.s without success.

Any ideas what this could be? Many thanks to all in advance for your assistance.

Make sure the folder the .wag file is in reads SP_Gon_92744 and them make sure the filename itself is SP_Gon_92744GRVL.wag, not SP_g-50-11_parts_grvl.

The error message is telling you when in looks in the Trainset folder it is not finding a folder named "SP_GON_92744" and a .wag file within named "SP_Gon_92744GRVL.wag"

Hello AJ and thank you for your response. I downloaded this car from Elvas Tower website as instructed and the Readme file states in order to get the different loads i.e. lumber, gravel and logs, I need to go into the wag file for this car and edit the FreightAnim line to get the load I desire. This is done by editing the shape file name in the FreightAnim line to read one of the following.

sp_g-50-11_parts_grvl.s -for gravel
 "  "  "  "  "  "  "  "  lmbr.s -for lumber
  "  "  "  "  " "  "  "  logs.s -for logs

I have made a separate wag file for each load within the same folder and have even made a separate folder with the different wag files to reflect the different loads to no avail.

I have not changed any of the folder or file names except to do as you suggested and MSTS is still giving me the same error message.

What could I be doing wrong here? Am I understanding you correctly AJ as to what you are suggesting?

Thanks again for your help.

runeight,

I think your problems is the gons are in the wrong folders. I did a quick check of the ACT file for the template and it is looking for the cars in the following locations.

SP_Gon_92418\SP_Gon_92418LOGS.wag
SP_Gon_92744\SP_Gon_92744_MT.wag

The bold face type is the parent folder names and you should have a folder for each gon number. With in each parent folder you should have the .wag file for the 3 types of loads.

Hope this helps.

Peter

I have noticed that sometimes files are renamed by people who create Templates. I myself am in the process of renaming all my TRAINSET files to a more understandable filename. For example, the default Dash 9 that comes with MSTS, I have renamed the file to the following:

Folder "Dash9" is now "BNSF_C44-9W_4732"

Shape file Dash9.s is now "BNSF_C44-9_4732.s

Wagon file Dash9.wag is now "BNSF_C44-9W.wag

Shape Definition Dash9 is now "BNSF_C44-9W.sd

You also need to correct the line inside the .sd file and 3 lines inside the .wag to read the same way

This is how I correct this problem but don't try this unless you are pretty knowlegable about the files. If you would like send me a copy of the file and I'll see if I can help you.

AJ,

If you rename your default or any rolling stocks default name It may run on your MSTS but!!

The down side is if you make templates using the new names people will have problems running any templates you provide unless they want to convert all their files and templates they already have to match your name / folder format.

I made the mistake of re-naming a pulpwood car into a name I would understand in a template I did. Then after I released it I had to add instructions in my install file that the car was not in the default name folder location.  When one downloads the file it would go into the folder and under the name the car or engine the designer expected it to go into and the template is designed to find it in that location changing names prevents the program from finding the file unless you edit the template or the file name / location.

You're right Peter, but I'm not to the point of designing templates for others. Most that I do are for my own use due to the fact that I have changed most of the folder names.
