Quite often, (ie:most of the time.) when generating an activity with activity gen I get the following type error.

"Template calls for car type FMT (or car type CL or whatever at random) but there is no car of that type in the SWLACT CSV file" This is presently driving me nuts on the Pokey route and template.

I have Activity Master and all car types are correct, but I do not know where the template or the CSV gets its car types from except from the excel files written for the template. It seems to me that the two would match up when the act is generated. Somewhere in my 5000 hunks of rolling stock there should be a car of any type. Can I edit something to add the car type wanted? If so what column in the excel files show car type?

Note, I get this same error in other templates as well. I have tried substituting cars with Activity master, building special consists to use with AM and AG but still I get this error all too often.

Any ideas??

Dave

Hi Dave,

I have rechecked the template files for the FMT files (unless it's something else) are they seem to be present in each of the SWLACT and SWLTDB files. See images below for both the EB and WB templates:

You may wish to remove all template files located in the ACTIVITIES (CSV, ACT, CTP,PRO), PATHS (PAT), SERVICES (SRV), TRAFFIC(TRF if present) and the CONSISTS (CON) folders and re-install the latest template files. The Pokey has been done by both Norm and Pete. Maybe they can be of help if other issues.

As Denis suggested, I would re-install the template activity files. If they have been damaged, the program won't work correctly. The files SWLACT and SWLTDB are both used by Activity Generator and have different functions. The SWLACT file contains all the information on the rolling stock used in the activity. One of the columns is used to set up the type of rolling stock. It is here the template designer will designate the cars to be Flat cars (F), Boxcars (BX) etc. The SWLTDB file relates to the tracks and sidings. He we determine what type of cars will be used for those sidings. It is important that the car types used, in this file, match the types used in SWLACT file. If there is a type in the SWLTDB that does not exist in the SWLACT file, you will get the message "Template calls for car type FMT but there is no car of that type in the SWLACT CSV file". You may not get a message all the time, but it will show up anytime the program selects a siding that has a missing car type in the SWLACT file.

As for Activity Generator and Activity Master, these two programs do not share files. Whatever designation you are using for identifying cars in Activity Master has no bearing on what the car is identified as in Activity Generator. The structure of the CSV files is completely different and are not interchangeable.

You might also want to check to make sure the files are Read-Only.

This is definitely a template issue, and the template does contain that rolling stock. Did you get this sorted? I assume it only happens with one route, right? Because other templates don't use the same car types.

Thanks,

Steve

Steve, and others) it happens with different routes. I have, several times, removed the templates and reinstalled them. I get perhaps 2 or three good activities and then it starts the same errors again. I am going to look at the permissions for the AG folder and see if that is the problem. I am thinking it is the computer which is somehow corrupting the files??? Not sure how but that is Win 7 for you. Get back to you probably on Monday the 11th
