Hi Denis:
Attached are some new files. They demonstrate the PATH problem. Just try the first pickup at Moenchengladbach.

Thanks,

David

Hi David,

Unfortunately the path you have used will not allow any pickup of the sidings, unless leaving the path, picking up the cars, backing up to where you have left the path and resume. This is not one option I like myself to be caught to do here.

In Moenchengladbach, all sidings but these three are facing point sidings and are better worked for the WB paths ending at Moenchengladbach.

These three sidings will be easier worked by using the other EB path to Witten, in which case will come closer to these three sidings. Even if the user leaves the original path to pickup the cars in these three sidings, the consist will be able to join back to the original path further east.

The following AE screenshot will give you an idea of the configuration around the sidings.

Often, route configuration can make access to some sidings difficult from one direction and ideal for the other and a path may not reach reasonably all sidings. This has always been a challenge to template makers in finding the ideal path to allow a maximum number of sidings to be reached and worked reasonably. Unfortunately, they cannot reach all. This is why AG had provided additional features like manual switching and permissive signalling to face such inconveniences the route can have and also taking in consideration MSTS limitations.

The Wupper route has been one of the most difficult templates I have done because of its size, complexity and its multiple tracks and often the switch points to reach one or more sidings are done too late and too far away for a reasonable pickup.

This is why the maps will allow the user to locate the sidings that may not be suitable to work with at start and along the path up to its destination, depending of the path chosen and avoid selecting them. In the same way it will allow the user to select those that can be reasonably worked. There too maps are not available to every route MSTS has available. It has been fortunate that some among the MSTS community, including Craig Kawahara, Moe Smith, to name a couple, had taken some time to provide maps which have greatly helped in activity making and work selection, including use of these templates with AG.

In areas where at start, picking up cars cannot be reasonably done, the user can use AG to have a number of cars at the very start, like here in Moenchengladbach where up to 35 cars can be part of the consist at the start.

Hi Denis:
Thanks for the reply. I did exactly as you said. Left the path, picked up the cars and then backed up to get back on the path.

How would a person know to use the Witten path?

Can you please tell me how you magnify the activity in AE? Every time I try it AE crashes.

Thanks again for all the help.

David

Hi David,

For the path going East to Witten, I am including a screenshot where you have to turn to pickup the cars. Once the work done, move ahead. Eventually you will meet the original path to resume the activity.

The original path in GREEN
The one to take for the pickup in RED

As for enlarging the Activity Editor ( AE) window, I am not sure if this can be done. I have some search in TS and seems to suggest the same result.

Hi Denis:
Thanks for that. It is much appreciated.

As far as enlarging the AE window I found out that if you change the COLOR QUALITY settings to 16 bit it works fine.

Thanks again,

David
