Skyline User's Forum _ Activity Master _ Error Message when starting

Posted by: FLR Sep 16 2010, 11:57 AM

When I click on "Load an Activity (act) File, I get the error message "File not found encountered while loading". Would someone give me an assist with this?
Thanks,
Fred

For me - that usually means I forgot to "Unstore Everything"
Try That

do you use Train Store? If so, then you have to "Unstore Ecerything" to get the files back where they belong. If they are stored, AG cannot create an activity. If you do not use Train Store, then ignore my advice and ask someone else.

Thank you Ted. No I do not use Train Store. It is hard to find honest people these days.

Fred

Does this happen after you select a specific activity file to load? If so, does it happen with every activity, or just a certain one?

Are you running Windows Vista or Windows 7? If so you need to enable read-write access to certain folders such as your \Program Files\Train Simulator folder, and your \Program Files\Activity Master folder. Search this forum for info on this known Vista issue (which is the same for W7 as it is for Vista) if you are running Vista or W7.

Thanks,

Steve

Steve, thanks for you assistance. I am using Vista 64bit (which I have found screws with programs). I will follow your advice and see what happens. I am sure your suggestion will take care of the problem. I enjoyed working on the templete for P&WV. If I get this problem solved, I am going to take on Sandpatch.
Thanks and regards,
fr

p.s. Thanks for not being sarcastic (as I am sure you are not), but some people have to take shots at you when the anwer.

You might want to check out this posting. http://skylinecomputing.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=555&hl=File+-found

I have not had any trouble with the programs , Activity Generator and Activity Master, using Windows 7 64 bit. The only difference I have is putting all MSTS related programs into a folder outside of the 'Program Files' and 'x86 Program Files' folders. I have a folder on the C:\ drive named MSTS that is my Train Simulator 'stuff' folder. I still took control of it and set it for read/write access.

Nope, no sarcasm here, just wanting to help fellow hobbyists enjoy what is still the best Train Simulator out there! Also Jim gave you a link that might be helpful. We are all here to help.

Enjoy,

Steve
