Hi to all,

It has been a while since my last project and post. Although it has been quiet these last months (and also busy part-time working and taking time with my grandchildren), I have been monitoring the route projects in MSTS for oncoming templates.

As for the MILW Coast Div 1st Sub, now that it has been released, I can give you some news about the current template project. Moe has been able to give me the route a few weeks ago in order to start the template project. Thanks again Moe!

The route has about 135 serviceable sidings and 13 templates have been done so far. The only remaining templates that have been held back is the NP mainlines and locals. A last minute change by Jerry to give names to sidings in Pomona prevented me to start working on the NP line. Now it can be resumed.

The required rolling stock will be mostly a mix of the stock used on both the RMD West and the MILW GAP templates with some slight changes: from BLW, the NP and MILW Freight packs will be the main downloads since they are already used on both templates.

On the MILW line, there are 2 mainline templates (EB & WB), 2 local templates (WB & EB), one for the Royal City local, some switching templates at Othello (2) and Kittitas. Also I have done 2 MOW templates. On these two, they are done during the night, after sunset. I believe it is a first for me doing any templates after sundown. On the NP, switching templates have been done at Ellensburg (2) and one for the Roslyn Mines local run.

For the WB MILW template in Othello, the player will start his run as arriving from the MILW Idaho div. with diesel motive power. He will be required to toggle from diesel to Electric, similarly done at Avery with the previous GAP Template, from Electric to Diesel. for the WB mainline, the player will have two choices: arrive at Othello, switch the motive power and leave directly with the original freight load to Cle Elum or toggle the motive power, do a few switching at the West Yard and then leave after with the updated freight load.

As for the Royal City local, this will a challenging run since there are no runaround sidings once in the branch to Royal City. Switching will be a complex process. This one has been a head scratcher but I have been successfull with the switching and the return back to Othello. Take note that the Royal Branch can only be services by diesel power. The branch has been opened around 1967.

Benny, If you are still around and interested with testing this one, let me know.

Here are some screenshots: first from the MILW WB mainline and the second set (next post) from the night time WB MOW.

Hello to all,

Continuing testing the finished templates, which is now 17 on this package.

The following images are from Northern Pacific's Cle Elum Local template, It starts at Pomona, which originated in Yakima, continuing towards Cle Elum and returning to Yakima. The Template ends back once reaching Pomona toward its final destination in Yakima. The template is inspired by Burlington Northern's Cle Elum Local run which ran in the 70's

This one is expected to be the longest of all templates. Although this SLG generated template activity has minimal work along, it took more than 5 hours to complete. That means a generated activity with more work along can take up to 7-8 hours.

I have started to work on the readme file and it is advancing slowly but surely.

Shots include some switching at Ellensburg, at Thorp and a runaround at Cle Elum back to Yakima

Will keep updating

Hello to all,

Here are shots for the Royal City Template, please take note of the detailed information inside some pictures to understand the way it can be done. It has been the most difficult template to figure out a way to make it possible since there are no runaround sidings out there.

Hi to all,

Additional pictures from two completed SLG-generated activities. The first five pictures is from the KITTITAS area switching template. The remaining fourteen shots are from the ROSLYN mines template. For the latter one, picking up coal cars from the No 4 mine will take some complex moves to reverse the train while leaving the empty and picking up loaded cars. The last 14 shots are shown chronologically ( spread in two posts)

Here are the first five from the KITTITAS template

The first four from the ROSLYN Template:
