Skyline User's Forum _ Templates _ Problem with 3DTS TEH2 Template

Posted by: CP_Man Jun 24 2008, 07:09 PM

Hi guys,

First off, let me say that I've been using Activity Generator for about a year now and love it! Great job by Steve and everyone else here on making a simple, easy to use and fun program. It's really gotten me back into the sim.

I've recently purchased Tehachapi Pass Route II from 3DTS and installed Steve's template for it. Now, what I like to do is modify certain paths after making my industry choice selection, so I can start right where the action is. I've been doing this since I first got Activity Generator, so I don't think this is what's causing my problem. I generated 3 acts today, modified the paths and ran them with no trouble. However, I generated one using a different template, the SB one, switching industries at the summit. The load screen in MSTS gets about halfway before this message appears:

"Failed to utilize activity manager" and then a Send/Don't Send Error.

Anybody know what's up here? I appreciate any replies.

Joe

Hmmm . . . I don't think we have seen this one before. Maybe the problem is because of where the modified path begins. Have you tried to modify the path in such a way that you start somewhere else? I.e. instead of starting at the switching area, start down the main somewhere, so that you have a short run before the switching area. Does the activity run if you do not modify the path?

Hi Norman,

Thanks for the reply! biggrin.gif

I actually didn't change the path for this particular activity, as all my sidings were right in that area. I'll try generating another activity and see if I get the same error again.

Joe

Joe,
One place to look is in the MSTS AE for the path. If there are empty text boxes in the discriptions in the upper right area of the AE work screen you may get the error you see.

Good luck.

Hi Peter,

Thanks, I'll give it a try and let you know how it works out.

Hi Peter,

I changed the start point of the player path and it works now. Thanks again for your help!

So, you did not change the path and it did not work. I.e. you used the template path as is. Then in a later post you mentioned that you altered the path and it did work. Is this correct? If so, then perhaps there is an error in the path contained in the template. That being the case, we need to identify this path to the template creator -- Steve Davis, in this case.

Hi Norman,

Yes, that is what happened, I just generated and ran. I didn't modify the path until after the error occurred. The path name is Monolith Switcher, on the SB template.

Regards,

Joe
