In case any of you template developers have seen the announcement about the release of the new Feather River Route (by 3dTrains), and you think you want to do a template, be advised that we already have two people wanting to work on it, so unless you have a better idea . . . well, I'm not saying don't do your own template -- I just don't want to see duplicate effort.

Two updates:

First, the WB template for WP3 has been sent to testers, and unless they find a lot of issues the EB will follow quickly.

Second, it appears that 3dTrains will release a revision to the route, v. 1.05, but it is unclear if it will include any improved track markers. Marc has stated, however, that v. 1.1 will include improved track markers. My intention is to release the first version of this template ASAP, so it will be per the current track markers. Once v. 1.1 is available, we will work quickly to get an updated template posted.

Well, to give an update, we are finding issues. Not with the template so much, but with the signals in this route. It appears to have the old MSTS AI dispatcher blues as bad as any route I've ever seen. Stand off here, stand off there, pretty much determined by timing, and the usual work arounds (backing, save and restart, etc.) don't always work. There are also places on the route where AG cannot convert the signal to permissive. Looks like the user can take his chances or he can choose no AI traffic when generating an activity. It's not impossible to complete an activity, just not too likely.

We'll continue testing with a goal of releasing the template anyway. No promises as to when.

I hope you (and all users) have as much fun with it as we did developing (playing with) it!!! Visually, this is a stunning route, which is all the more fun when you have some good activities.

One of our users, Ken Pickersgill, found an error in the WP3 template. I have sent the corrected template files to the user and also to Steve to be posted. I can send the corrected files to anyone who "just can't wait" for Steve to get them up on the web site.

THANKS KEN!
