After my last post re win 8.1, I was afraid I would have to keep a Win 7 computer around forever in order to run MSTS. HOWEVER - - I have good news for a change. I upgraded my Win8.1 to Win 10 yesterday, and tried MSTS today. Since I had already installed it (which wouldn't work) I did not have to re-install. I just opened it up and away we went. I immediately created an activity using SLG, and it ran perfectly. I transferred some routes from my Win 7 computer into this one, and opened a saved activity -which ran without a hitch. We are in luck that this is a pleasant operating system to run and MSTS is a bonus !!.
FYI - I installed MSTS in C:/MiniRoutes rather than the default, and set up a file for each individual route.Works great and each route is not overloaded with cars - only the necessary ones for that route. Good luck to all you trainsters... I am Happy again... Ted |

MSTS works fine in windows 10 as long as you have an nvidia video card. MSTS will not work if you have an AMD video card. Open Rails, however, will work with an AMD or Nvidia card

I dont have the site but I would be happy to email it to anyone who might need it, or it can probably be found by searching the Trainsim forum. |
