I have been working on a new template for the GEXR route and is now ready for uploading. Steve have given me the green light to proceed with the uploading. However, I am delaying its release to allow some new engines for the GEXR to be released at MLT downloads (and maybe TS) The engines used for testing are a few years old. These new engines will make a great addition to the template and I was told recently that they should be released soon.

Denis,

I am excited!  You certainly got busy with this template, and got it done in a hurry.

By all means wait for the improved locos. This is always a dilemma with new routes -- for older ones, generally good equipment is already available.

Thanks for your contributions to MSTS in general and AG in particular.

Hi everybody

I have decided to upload the template.Steve has it now.I was hoping to have some new engines for the GEXR, but aren't ready yet. I have decided not to let others waiting to enjoy this new template. When the new engines get uploaded, I may consider updating the template with the new GEXR engines. The engines chosen are HLCX engines, a good compromise to those I am waiting for.

Good day Steve or Denis. I have an erroe that will not let me use the templete. It keeps looking for an AMT car that does not exist . The weird thing is that Conbuilder and route-riter came up clean. I was wondering if there is a simple fix that I can do to cure it. I tried a couple of things and all I did was screw up the templete. Thanks for any help.Greg

You probably need to download that car or use ConBuilder to replace it with something else, unless you have my ActivityMaster program which will replace every instance of any car you don't have, with cars you do have.

Which car, specifically, do you need?

Thanks,

Steve

Hi Greg,

Do you remember what template you were trying to use? The NB, SB or the yards template? I find it strange. In the TDB files, the AMT indicates anything in empties, not one specific type of car. Normally that shouldn't be any problem in choosing one car since there are no restriction in the car types wanted. I have looked at the files and I believe there are only two sidings using the AMT note, one in Stratford and the other one London. Remember you will need the Niagara Corridor route pack for rolling stock unless you were able to change the rolling stock with Activity Master.

Will wait for your reply if you still encounter problems.

Hi Denis. I guess I am the only one having problems with this route. I have been trying to get to run for two days now along with the help from the sim community but to no avail.  It will load and run for a mile or two then freezes so hard that I have to shut down the computer the hard way so i sidelined It hoping someone might tell me what is wrong .

Anyway I am not able to find that car in Dundas Freight or MLT freight. As i said before conbuilder nor route riter displays any errors but after making an activity and try to load it it will displaythe error and to notify the author.

The car is in NBTemplete csv 2x and in YardsTemplete csv 2x.

Where the route will not run for me it doesn't make much difference if the templetes work or not. So if I am the only one with this problem I wouldn't worry about it. Thanks for your reply Greg

Can you give me the exact name of the car you can't find and we can perhaps help you to get it?

Also if you are simply having problems running the route no matter what, I have to ask, are you using MSTS Bin?  That will usually cure the hard freezes etc. which are most often caused by memory management problems in MSTS.

Thanks,

Steve

The only thing that comes up in the message is AMT car does not exist notify the author. I run the latest BIN on all my mini routes and I don't think power is the problem as I have a 4.3gig duel processor , 1000gig of ram and a 256 video card. and no trouble on any of high intencity routes. Frame rates between 20 & 60. Greg.

Is the AMT car type present in the appropriate SWLACT.csv file?

Hi everybody,

I am in the process of rechecking the ACT and TDB csv files of all  templates to compare if there are the same car type. I will get back later today to reply to Gary's concern.

It seems strange that nobody else has complained about this car or else they know how to fix it. To answer Steves question is no that is why conbuilder or route riter wouldn't show it missing. The only place I could if it was in the 2 cvs files. Greg

Hi to all,

I have taken the time to look at the csv files and found some car type mismatches when comparing the ACT and TDB csv files. I have made the corrections to all GEXR templates and will send in a few minutes the updated template file to Steve for upload. Thanks Greg for pointing out the problem. I helps us to correct mistakes we as template builders do not always see them. It is a complicated process. It is only my second template and am acquiring more experience. I hope Greg you will be able to enjoy more this update than the previous one. Please don't hesitate to come back to the forum if you still have problems with the template.

Denis

Thank you Denis for the new template. I have one favor to ask of you. Sense you were able to make a template for the route did you have problems getting the route to run. As far as I know I have everything that the it calls for. I can load it and run acts from the start points but when I get 2 or 3 miles out it will freeze with no warning nor no errors. It does this on all the supplied act. Some of the community seems to think I have a sound file missing but I have no idea what it would be as route riter shows no errors on the route check. I know this is not the right form for this question I just though you might be able to help. Thanks you. Greg.

Hi Greg,

It may be the route itself. When I have downloaded it. There were problems already with missing or bad files. Using Route Riter allowed to correct most of them. A patch was released later to correct the errors on the initial release. at MLT downloads, Ted Kocyla, or "alcoted" had released later an improvement in textures for the route.

As for running the template. I have been able to test many parts of the route. The only problem I have encountered was part or the physics of the initial engines used for the template that generated a couple of times a coupler broken. As Steve pointed out earlier I think, using the MSTS Bin improves dramatically performance. If you can get it, it's worth it.
