Hi All. I know that everyone is busy but I was wondering what happened to the RMD East template. Was looking forward to it as this is a beautiful route. Last post was on Oct.17. Greg.

Hi Greg,

My apologies for the delay . Norm has confirmed me that Steve is still outside the city for his work. Once Steve gets home, I believe he will make it quick to upload the finished template package. It will eventually come. Thanks for your patience and it will be worth the wait once you get your hands on it.

Thanks for the reply. I know from other posts that he is on the road alot. No hurry, thought maybe he had run into a big snag somewhere. Thanks. Greg.

Hi to all,

I have asked Steve not to upload the package previously sent. I have upgraded the package with the following:

For those having some extra electric engines, I have included additional MILW player consists in their respective folders for the E42 three boxcab EF-3 and the E50 two boxcab EF-1 if you wish to substitute the default (EF-5) player MILW (EB & WB) train for those two. Also included is a YARDS player consist for the E57B switcher (ES-3) known as the “Harlowton Switcher” to replace the default ES-2 switcher if you wish to work with the ES-3 inside the Harlowton Yards.

The NPLOCALS Template has now two local runs with return trips on the NP. The first one is from Logan to Lombard and the second is from Logan to Sappington, including the Sawmill inside the simulated 4-mile Norris and Pony Branch.

On the NPLOCALS run to Sappington, it would be recommended to switch the signalling to Permissive mode for the rest of the run once you have your green at Logan. This will allow some complex moves at Sappington to turn your engines from the front to end for the return trip. The 20-mile run have both facing point and trailing point sidings. You will have to move to the Sawmill with your caboose and cars in front to be able to work the area. Working along the line may take up to 3 hours to complete. I have been successful in a run involving work at the Sawmill, Sappington’s TALC Factory and Willow Creek’s grain elevator in 2 hours and 25 minutes!

I have added traffic along the MILW's Gallatin Branch (not electrified) which will add one extra download to the pack, that is a MILW GP20 from TS.

Since Steve is still away from home, I am taking extra time to figure out ways to improve evenmore the template. I will wait for Steve's return before sending him the upgraded package.

Here's a shot of the run at Willow Creek:

Will confirm later when sent for uploading

Hello to all,

While creating an act for the BAPYARDS Template, I have found an error inside one of the PAT files, the Anaconda area one, in which case MSTS would'nt open the act. I have edited and corrected the path file with the proper correction to the path filename. I have sent to Steve the updated package.

For those who can edit PAT filenames, here is what to do:

Just shows that one single letter can make a difference.

My apologies for the mistake for those who have encountered it.

Hi All

After installing the template and stock I ran it through Route Riter and got the following error "Path Name = RMDEastBAPYARDSTraffic3.pat Path is missing from RMDEastBAPYARDSTemplate.act" This path is not in the download, as far as I can tell.

Hello Harlank,

It is my turn to be away from home for about a week (A rare occurence for me laugh.gif ). However and fortunately, I have brought with me on a DVD the MSTS folder which includes the RMD_East route and template. I have checked it out and you are right. The service file, the consist file of the BAPYARDSTraffic3 look OK but the PAT file is absent. I kind of found strange not to see traffic along the path when running the act at Anaconda. The PAT file is the one running the trolley up to the Smelter Hill. Once I get home this week end, I will get into it to add the missing path and should send the updated package to Steve.

Thanks

Hello again Harlank and to all,

I have decided to go a little further in looking at the paths included in the pack and have found the reason of the missing path. The missing path is actually in the package but under a different PAT filename. The path file RMDEastBAPYARDSTraffic3 was initially RMDEastYARDSTraffic3 but forgot to change the file name during creation of the BAPYARDS template from the original YARDS Template. It has been properly edited to have the proper pathnames but not the PAT file itself.

That means the RMDEastYARDSTraffic3.PAT must be simply renamed RMDEastBAPYARDSTraffic3 to correct the issue, that is insert BAP before the word YARDS to the PAT file.

Will send later to Steve the updated package this week-end.

Quite some news here Norm about the NP set. I wasn't aware about it. I have checked BLW's forum and wasn't able to find anything about it. That will be one set I will try to get my hands on it later!

Thanks for the scoop!

Hi to all,

For those who enjoy working on the NP line, Gaétan Bélanger has just released the NP pack.
Norm, go get it! laugh.gif Great work from Gaétan.
Once I get some money available, I will try to get my hands on it as well and enjoy the stock with the NP templates.

Question : The Template with an update date of 11-21-2010 on the Templates page - is this the latest? I keep getting an invalid file structure error when extracting. If I hit okay, the file unpacks. Installing the template into the RMD_East Route, There are several service and path errors noted in TrainStore.

I noticed the post above for the latest version is dated after 11-21-2010.

Thank you

Hi Glenn,

The latest template update is as of Nov. 27th. I have rechecked the files inside the set and looks OK. Harlank had found a problem with one of the PAT files with the wrong name ( see earlier post). This has been corrected on the latest package. It may be suggested to delete the previous files from the earlier package and re-install with the newer one.

Hope this helps

Apparently I hadn't deleted all the previous files. Did so and re installed - so far, so good.

Hi to all,

I have sent to Steve an updated template.

Some changes were made and here they are: I have added to the NP LOCALS Template an additional short run which covers from Whitehall to Waterloo and return. I have also corrected the starting point of the path from Butte for the NP WB template which has been slightly moved ahead because the original starting point of the path caused a computer crash.

I have purchased recently the BLW Northern Pacific Freight pack and it goes great with the NP Templates. If you get to purchase it, you will enjoy it here.

Here's a shot of the new LOCALS run between Whitehall and Waterloo at its start at Whitehall.

Hope you are enjoying the templates.

The BLW NP pack is super, and it is right at home on this route running activities generated using Denis' template. I highly recommend both to all.
