Hi to everyone,
I have been away for quite a while. Over 2 1/2 years ago I was hit by a nasty PC virus that just about ruined everything in my PC and external HD. At that time my son was dealing with heart and kidney failure and Train Sim seemed unimportant. He is now waiting for a heart and kidney transplant.
I didn't know my 2014 PRR Template was no longer in the Template list. The PRR Template was the only thing I didn't lose because I had it stored on an online storage site. I also received a copy from Harlen in this forum.
For those who are unfamiliar with PRR Eastern route it is the largest route ever made. It took 10 men 6 years to create. It has 4500 miles of track, 2400 sidings, 87 yards and covers 3 Divisions and 5 Railroads (PRR-B&O-CNJ-LV-RDG).
I want to add to the Template Package with some new ideas I have come up with before I repost it. It now has 115 templates and I want to add 5 to 10 more. Right now it has very large files, Activities (.act, .Pro, .ctp, .cvs and .tdb)-576, Consists-171, Traffic-121, Paths-336 and Services-786.
When ready I will send a screen shot and a link for downloading it. It will be a complete Mini-Route with everything except the Valley Pass Payware. You will need the PRR 1950 set, the PRR#3 set and the Troop set.

Hello to all,

Since taking over the PRR Template mega project, I have been taking time to determine the proper downloads and studying the different railroads and their tracks.

The route itself is being beta tested and awaiting release in the future in the Trainsim site. As you know, the PRR includes trackage from the PRR, Baltimore & Ohio (B&O), Reading, Central New Jersey (CNJ) and Lehigh Valley (LV) railroads.

Taken from my latest template the Milwaukee Coast Division, 2nd Sub, this one will also use a lot of railfill from one of the downloads containing low-poly strings of cars. I will try to balance use of these strings to have a higher railfill while having a reasonable performance.

Because of the massive workload ahead and number of sidings ( 2500+), the entire template package is expected to be a series of multiple template projects. That means that such templates will need starting from scratch every time. An example is the marking of all serviceable sidings before making the track database files. That will be done each time a new railroad ( or new area within the same railroad) is started. Of course, not all sidings will become serviceable but will try to have at many as possible. As with the Conn River template, boxcars is expected to occupy around 75% of the rolling stock as the mid to late fifties seem to have this proportion of boxcars.

I am starting with the shortest railroads and keep the PRR last among the projects.

I am happy to present pictures of the first finished template of this project, here the Lehigh Valley Oak Island Yards template ( and the only one for the LV). It consists of exchange of cars between the Oak Island Yards (West and East yards) and the Greenville Yard. The Oak Island Yard is actually two yards bearing the same name and also some of the sidings. In this project, I have identified them separately as the Oak Island West and East Yards. Now about the Greenville Yard: although it has been under PRR ownership, it seems that the LV has access to the yard sidings. The North track across the bridge between Oak Island and the Greenville yard is LV trackage while the South track across the same bridge is PRR-run.

The Greenville Yard contains about 40 sidings (see picture below).

However, only half of them are being used to maximize performance that wouldn't be possible if filling all sidings with high-poly railcars used for servicing. The 20 serviceable sidings have been carefully spreaded throughout the yard while many of the others have been railfilled with low-poly cars. The result has been very good using the railfill setting to 5 with around 500 cars, not including the string of low-polys as railfill. Traffic is present also in the template project as you will see in 2 of the shots.

The pictures will be shown in the next post
