Hi everybody, I am very new to MSTS but like the programme very much and since I dont know much about programing I thought a program like Activity Generator would make my life a lot easier. I downloaded Activity Generator and installed alright, and then I downloaded all the Templates that I have Routes for into a separate folder. The question I have is where do I unzip the Templates too, is it into MSTS or Activity Generator or where ?Thanks to anybody who can help

None of the templates go into your "Activity Generator" folder, all go into your \Train Simulator folder. Installing Activity Generator Templates. The best approach is to download and unzip the templates somewhere on your machine, maybe to My Documents. Then see what the folder names are and copy those to your Train Simulator folder so that they overwrite the files with the same name. Most of our templates can be unzipped directly into your \Train Simulator folder and will install themselves, but not all. Usually the readme that comes with each template (in the zip file) will have specific instructions for installing. I am sorry that we haven't been more consistent with this, but like most MSTS files, these have been contributed by many different folks and they each may have a slightly different approach. Basically the templates can be broken down into four major types/groups:
IMPORTANT: Read the Readme and Download, Install and Check any Rolling Stock Needed for each Template!! You also need to read the README to find out what rolling stock you might need to download and install to run the template! If you install the template and don't install the required rolling stock (or, use Activity Master, our other program, to substitute the rolling stock called for in that template for rolling stock you already have on your drive or prefer to use), then YOU WILL GET ALL SORTS OF ERRORS WHEN YOU TRY AND LAUNCH MSTS! So be sure you have all the rolling stock you need installed BEFORE you try and run a template. We recommend two very good programs, available in freeware and payware versions: ConBuilder and RouteRiter, to check your rolling stock out before trying to generate activities using an Activity Generator template. Run ConBuilder or RouteRiter in the template activity (one of the files that ends in .act) before generating any activities and correct any errors, either by downloading or replacing any problem or missing rolling stock reported by these programs. That will ensure that your activity generation time is enjoyable rather than frustrating and fraught with "Send/Don't Send" message. I hope this gets you up and running! If not please post back to this forum and let us know how we can help you begin generating your own MSTS activities. This topic could be helpful to all new users of Activity Generator, so I am going to pin the topic. Happy Trainsimming, Steve -------------------- Steve Davis
