Skyline User's Forum _ General MSTS Discussion _ Soo Line Sound

Posted by: smokeytc Feb 22 2011, 02:35 PM

Hi All - I am running the Soo Line and it is a very fine road, and so is the template. However, on starting an act, I get a message " missing file

"3PDPMgensoundIce.sms"

Have scoured the net, and found someone else who needed it too, but the link was broken. Act ran okay, but frustrating every time I had to reload a saved act, had to go thru the Okay-ing of the message 3 times before the act would start. Could someone please look into you MSTS "sound" file and see if you have this file, and e-mail me a copy. Would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Ted

If this is for a piece of rolling stock, I would just change it out to something that is already on your system. You would need to edit the *.wag file. Just replace it with genfreightwag3.sms or one of the others that your rolling stock is using.

I don't believe that it is legal to mail this file to you, since it is from a payware sound set. As Jim said, you can simply swap the sound line in the offending rail car's .wag file for one from another car.

Just seeing Norm's post made me think a bit. There is another way to do this. I've done this recently for a couple of MSTS users while helping them correct some issues with sound. You could take one of your *.sms files, such as genfreightwag3.sms, copy and paste it in the same folder and just rename it to '3PDPMgensoundIce.sms'. That might be easier if you have a few cars that need to be edited or if you are unsure about editing the *.wag files.
