I have reinstalled it at least twice. The route is default Marians Pass. (from CD) Clue 2: When it does seem to generate an activity and it reaches save the file, It appears fine but the choosen name does not show up in USA2\actvities. In fact Windows search can't find it anyplace. Clue 3. It did work once but the generated actvity ended with "actvity complete" right away. Can't remember how I got there. Clue 4: when choosing a template other than Westbound.... I get "err 62 input passed end-of file" I also bought Activity Master but get nowhere with it so far. Actually I get more results from the MSTS activity editor.. Larry Costa |

Interesting. I'm an old guy, not computer savy, and I have NO trouble at all with the Marias Pass template, nor any other template, nor AG or AM for that matter. And my PC and laptop are not high end. Do you have the Microsoft patches installed to MSTS? -------------------- Norman

(larrycxz) I have reinstalled it at least twice. The route is default Marians Pass. (from CD) I am extremely surprised to hear this. I'm working on a tutorial for using Activity Generator to generate activities, perhaps that will help. I realize you know a lot about computers and are probably doing everything correctly but I need to ask some questions to try and work this out. First, I assume you are using the "Choose Activity (CSV) File" to open the activity, and when doing that you are opening from your D:\ drive since that's where you say your copy of MSTS is located -- is this correct? Do you get any errors when opening? The program figures out where your train simulator folder is located by working it's way "up" the tree from the activity file you open. We did this to enable the program to work with mini-routes etc. Do you have MSTS on more than one drive? Or routes on different drives? Or mini-routes? Do you use Train-Store? If so is the full route unstored? Can you try generating an activity WITHOUT using the "Change Engines" function? I'm trying to determine if the issue is tied to that function, specifically. The function reads all the rolling stock in the user's \TRAINS\TRAINSET folder and this is one of the few pieces of the program that I have had some issues reported with. I have a gentleman located in the Phillipines who is also having a problem with "Change Engines" and I am working with him to troubleshoot. My hope is if I get this working for this individual the update will benefit everyone. As Norm said though most of our users aren't having any issues. (larrycxz) Clue 2: When it does seem to generate an activity and it reaches save the file, It appears fine but the choosen name does not show up in USA2\actvities. In fact Windows search can't find it anyplace. Now that one is REALLY bizarre! I've never had a report of that. Can you type in the file name without extension in Windows search and look in your C: and D: drives both, and let me know what it DOES find? (larrycxz) Clue 3. I am very sorry to hear that you have been disappointed with our programs. I want you to know I'm committed to getting this to work on your machine. I may have to speak with you on the phone or do some remote troubleshooting via a program like WebEx or something. I want you to know that if we can't get it working, or even if we can and you simply aren't satisfied with either or both programs, I will refund your purchase price no questions asked. What I'd like to do to give you better support, is ask you to email me directly at SteveDavis@skylinecomputing.com. I may have to send you files or ask you for files and can't do that on this forum. -------------------- Steve Davis

Some other thoughts. What version of Windows are you running? Vista? XP? Win 98? I haven't tested these programs yet with Vista and I don't know if they run ok w/ Vista or not. Do you have more than one install of MSTS? Or of Activity Generator? Multiple installations of AG and/or MSTS can frequently result in this kind of issue. The SLG.ini file stores the full path of the last template accessed. Even if you reboot your machine after running AG, then the next time you run AG from a different location, and/or access a template from a different location, the generated activity may not be stored where you think. This can also occur if you use links to AG -- what is the path to the link? You may not be running AG from where you think you are. Just some ideas, I hope they help. You could try deleting the .ini file in your \Program Files\ActivityGenerator folder. Thanks, Steve -------------------- Steve Davis

(larrycxz) Clue 3. It did work once but the generated actvity ended with "actvity complete" right away. Can't remember how I got there. I just saw this happen myself today. It happened because I accidentally loaded the TEMPLATE rather than the activity I generated. So be careful in MSTS, don't run the activity with the word "Template" in the name. I haven't heard from you since this post, is everything working ok or are you still having trouble? I have a new tutorial on creating activities using Activity Generator, I just posted it on the Video Tutorials page, you might take a look at that, please let me know if it helps you. The main thing is, we want to get you generating your own activities on your favorite routes! Best wishes, Steve Davis -------------------- Steve Davis
