Hello to all,

It has been a while since the last post more than a month ago. Although I have been silent in the forum, I have been working slowly through the current project and have finished most of the work. It is now in testing mode. It has 13 templates and about 130 serviceable sidings. Templates include two mainline runs (EB & WB) with minimal pickups between the BNSF Barstow and UP Arden ( Las Vegas) Yards. Also included a few locals and many switching templates.

Other than the 9 freeware required downloads from Trainsim, there will be also two payware packs from Trainsimulations.net: The UP on Green River and the Scenic Sub packs since the route includes sections from both Railroads. Both packs have been formerly used in previous templates. Timeframe will be in the 2000+ era.

Benny will be testing the whole template package. Thanks again Benny! The package has been done with Open Rails in mind. The way to run the template is slightly different than with MSTS. For example, in the switching templates, most the paths are very short; it will be recommended to toggle the signalling to Manual mode (Ctrl+M). Otherwise, the emergency brake will be activated. Also it will be necessary to check your switches ahead and adjust to allow smooth passing to avoid your emergency brakes to be triggered.

Also a first for me, the images shown today come from a different image provider, Flickr. Since Photobucket imposed a fee to allow third party web hosting, I have changed image providers. Images shown are from the WB template, one local servicing the PGE facilities, one from the EB Template and a few from the Yermo yards area.

Hello to all,

Continuing with testing of the templates. Although progress is slow, there is a lot of tweaking done to improve each one of them.

Here are screens of different SLG-generated activities, including switching, local and mainline runs. There are helper units at Balch (EB) and Calada (WB) to help tackle the Cima Hill and its average 2.2% grade.

Hi to all,

The templates have been tested and Benny gave me his final report. It's a go! Make sure to read the included readme file with the oncoming template package which includes multiple details for those using Open Rails (OR), since the templates were done with OR in mind.

Thanks Benny for helping with the testing!

I will be writing to Steve with the request to upload the set to the templates page.

Pending its uploading to the templates page, I will send to those interested the template zip file. Simply e-mail me at photoman_57 (at) hotmail (dot) ca and I will send you the template files.

Once uploaded to the templates page, here is the image to be seen associated to the template package:

Will write later to confirm its uploading to the templates page

That route sure looks good and your work shows it off well.

Hi Denis. I noticed in the read me that Craig produced a map of the route and was to be included with the template, but I cannot find it anywhere. Just wondering about the omission.Greg

Hi Greg,

It is already part of the route. it is available under Cima/documentation folders.

Thanks

Sorry about that. If I wasn't so bum I'd be dead. Thanks for the reply. Greg.
