Full Version: New Haven's Cape Cod-The Bay Colony route

Hello to all,

A new template project has been started a few weeks ago for the Cape Cod-the Bay Colony route, made by John Bauckman in 2004, trying to optimize its potential. I have found out that this route is semi-fictional, but very appealing to run, as told me some users of the route. Some research has been done to make it as realistic as possible while at the same time getting the most of the route. One example of the semi-fictional feature is the presence of rail ferries/barges at Hyannis and Provincetown. Woods Hole only provided rail ferry services to Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket islands. Apparently rail ferry services there terminated before the end of the steam era in the New Haven railroad network.

8 templates have been done so far: 2 for the Buzzards Bay-Woods Hole line, 2 for engine shops switching in Chatham and Hyannis while the other four are switching templates inside Buzzards Bay, Woods Hole, Hyannis and Provincetown. Small changes to the route were done, which include lengthening some sidings, renaming or creating others to accomodate some of the templates. There are close to 240 serviceable sidings for the project. The timeframe will be 1956, one year after the McGinnis paint scheme has been introduced ( in 1955). RDC's were the main motive power in that era for passenger services.

The required downloads will be both New Haven BLW/ZT packs( with bonuses) as well as the Conn River Freight pack ( only the freight set zip file) and two downloads from the Trainsim site.

Here are some shots taken from activities generated by AG:

Hi to all,

Work is now completed on this project. The number of templates has reached 16! Other than the ones mentioned above, some local templates between Buzzards Bay, Hyannis and the Provincetown Corridor. Switching templates inside the Wellfleet area, extras working in some specific denser areas, such as in Sandwich, North Eastham, Orleans and South Wellfleet. Also some templates which switches cars with the Barges and Ferries of Hyannis and Woods Hole.

Craig Kawahara's map of the route, released some years ago, has been updated with the changes done to the track database which made these extra templates possible. It will be included with the package. Testing has started while Benny is doing the same for a while with the first templates sent to him.

Here are twenty shots of activities generated by AG. Enjoy the shots!

Hi to all,

Testing is continuing and some tweaking is done on some templates.

Its release is expected to be around early next month.

In the meantime, here are some shots from different templates.

Hi to all,

Just to confirm that Benny gave me the green on his side to release the template package to our users. Some final tweaks were done on my side too. Thanks again Benny for your help with testing!

As usual, you can write me at the usual address to request the package.

Once again here's the e-mail address: photoman_57(at)hotmail(dot)ca

Here's the template image of the project

Enjoy the package and Happy trainsimming!

Do you think the changes to the route database are enough to break previous activities? Should I make a new copy of the route?
dgionet
It may affect previous activities. I haven't tested the acts that were released after the route release over the years
