Hi to all,

Following creation of the Steyning route template, our first UK route template, I am turning my attention into a recently released and updated route at UKtrainsim.com, The Cannock Chase route to find out if I could be able to create a template, yes if I could...

Differing quite a lot from the Steyning which was short in length. The Cannock Chase has around 575 miles of track, 75 passenger platforms and over 500 sidings. As Jim Meindl said once, it is a "monster" to be tamed. What makes it even more challenging is the configuration of the route. The following map from an earlier version will give you an idea.

The problem in such case is to determine the different paths, a bit like Steve did with Ohio rail with its multiple starting paths. I have to determine the rolling stock for the mid-sixties and I believe it has multiple rail companies within. This has to be examined more in depth.
The project is in the embryonary stages.

In the meantime, here are a few shots of the route, the engines here are class 47 diesel engines.

Enjoy,

Denis,

If the route is different RR's, then you can divide it into separate templates by RR, similar to the NNJ and LV route templates.  This will greatly simplify the question of paths.

Hi Norm,

Checked the route's ownership in the region. Railroads were nationalized in the late 40's and operated under the British Railways company, later renamed British Rail (BR). Finally it fell into privatization in the 90's.
