Just a note that Steve is cooking up a way to prevent AM from assigning "B" units (cabless locos) as lead locos in AI consists, while still allowing the "B" units as trailing locos.

If you noticed, conbuilder does that.Issues a warning if you place an AI loco in the lead and then a driveable behind it.Cause all kinds of problems if a driveable follows an AI. Might be Ok with MSTSbin, but not with the un-modifed SIM.

Yes, I knew that CB flags this.  AG and AM are similarly protected.

For the player consist, both AG and AM have a routine which will permit only drivable locos in the lead.  But for replacing rolling stock and locos in an activity using rolling stock groups in AM, it is possible that AM could choose an F7B or similar cabless unit for the lead in an AI consist.  Consequently, Steve is working on an easy way to prevent this.

Joe,

But you CAN have an AI loco in the lead of an AI train, right?  As can AM and AG.  So the problem becomes, what if the first loco in an AI train is an AI "B" unit?  That isn't likely to happen in ConBuilder since users are manually building those consists and not many folks are going to put a B unit at the front of a train.  But in AM when replacing locomotives the user is replacing one locomotive for another in multiple consists at once and won't know which is "first" in the consist.

Thanks,

Steve

Yes you can build AI trains with ConBuilder, as long as all power is AI.
