How do you load your shapes into shape viewer so that when you use activity master you can see the cars you are replacing.

First, install the latest version of Shape Viewer. Next, go into Activity Generator and Activity Master and use the "set ShapeView location" option to tell AG and AM where to find the ShapeView program you just installed (which will be called sview.exe).

Thanks,

Steve

Did you get it working?
AT RR
Steve,
Good morning. I just loaded the latest rev of AG went into the program and relinked shape viwer, but when trying to view the hack I selected I don't get a view. What version of shape view should I be using ? Some times when you think you have the latest it is not. Please post a link.

AG worked fine before the update.

Thanks.

Sometimes if there is a problem with the shape then Shape Viewer will not display it, also sometimes if the shape is not compressed it will not display a picture.
AT RR
Joe,
Thanks for the prompt reply.

The wag is fine as I can open it directly with shape view in the wag folder or with AM, I have been using this caboose for weeks.

The problem came up when I updated AG to the current Rev. if I go back one Rev in AG it works again.

Its not a big problem but with all the cars as you get old it's sometime it's hard remembering the correct car number and it's nice to click on the view selection button to see if you have a hack on the end of your train and not unwanted car.

Peter

PS: I just noticed the there is a smilar thread in the AG section, I will wait for Steve's patch.

I am a curious kind of oldster too, what car is it, and where did it come from so I can take a look at it too.
AT RR
Joe,
The caboose is B&LE C1985, it's part of an B&LE ore car set that has ore cars, SD7, SD9 and a caboose, it can be found on train-sim.com "ble_ore.zip"
I tried shape view again in AG last night with other wags and it still does not work.

Thanks.

Unconfuse me, I have both programs myself, I can see it in Activity Master ok, in AG I do not have any templates loaded right now.
AT RR
Joe,
AG manages the templates and generates activities from the templates. In one screen in the program you have the option of changing your locomotive to any one you want other than the one the template designer used when he made the template. In this screen you can also add caboose of you choosing to the end of the train. It is in this screen that shape viewer does not work.

AM manages your rolling stock used in the template, in it you can substute your rolling stock for missing cars or change the whole look by selecting 60 era or what ever you want. Shape viewer works great for me in this program.

I know how the 2 programs work, I was just curious where it gets used in AG. Are You pointing both programs at the same Shape Viewer folder?
Not being derogatory, just trying to help You and Steve see what is happening.
AT RR
Joe,
Sorry I did not understand your question. The answer is yes the folder location of shape view is the same for both programs, you do not have to have it in the AG or the AM folder to work. When you set up AG and AM you tell the program the location of the shape view exe file.

Thank you.
Peter
