Hi. Iam running Surfliner. When I change the signals from absolute to permissive they don't change when I run the act. The SLG says it did but not when running. The switches appear to all work after making them manual. Is this a route thing or aomething not working right in the SLG? Thanks for any help. Greg.

Greg:

When going to Permissive I believe the signals don't change but when you click tab it will give you permission to pass the stop signal. Give it a try.

Thanks for the reply Pete. Yes you are right. I didn't explain it very well. No, the lights them selves don't change but in the track monitor it should tell me to stop and proceed which it doesn't, only stop. I can go everywhere if I tab the reds. So it must have something to do with the way the signals are set up in the route. I seem to recall a few years back there was a route that you could not change either. Greg

I will take a look at this route on Sunday and try and figure out what's going on. I have encountered a few routes where the setting signals to permissive doesn't seem to work.

Thankyou Steve. It would be nice as I do alot of freight switching on both sides of the yards when possible without having to tab every red. Greg.

I downloaded the route, and I really like it! I figured out what the problem is: this route uses four sigscr.dat files! (each with a slightly different name). I've never seen that before. The sigcfg.dat calls for the three files. Activity Generator is only set up to read and edit one file.

These signals are really good and we will probably see more from this signal author. So I will look at ways to deal with this. I will probably use a wildcard so all files with "sigscr*.dat" will be edited.

Needless to say this will require an update to Activity Generator. I'll get to work on it but I have a heavy travel schedule this week so I am not sure how soon the update will be released. Hopefully no more than a couple of weeks.

Thanks,

Steve

Thanks Steve. Take your time . Work before pleasure comes first. I've got lots of other route to run. Greg.
