Hi Steve.. I purchased the CN Bala Sub this week - what an awesome yard ! The Acts that came with the route work perfectly. I generated an act for the yard template, and it worked A-ok.
However, both the NB and SB templates are giving me problems. I generated acts (5 of each) with different criteria -changed eng., added caboose, traffic-no traffic. etc..and they all loaded through Train Store with NO errors, but when Train Sim opened, gets to the splash screen of "Load Saved Act" or "Drive a Train", and will go no further. All buttons greyed out except "Exit". Checked engine files, consists, re-extracted the template download, and am STUCK.
Can someone steer me on this, please

Hi Ted,

I believe you have all the CNBALA updates up to 1.5. When I have made the CN Bala Template, the 1.5 update wasn't available at the time of the template package release in November of last year. I have re-installed today the route up to the 1.1 update and have installed the template package. I have been able to generate NB ans SB SLG template activities.

The problem was found when installing the 1.5 update. After, when looking at the paths available to select work, the NB and SB have disappeared. This is why you could see all grayed areas in MSTS. Since the update included a new TDB file, this is the cause of the problem and the paths along the mainline became broken or corrupt. That means only the Macmillan Yard path is only available for those using the 1.5 update, to what I can see.

So the template can be used only for those having installed the 1.1 update and cannot be used with the 1.5 update.

I will try in my future projects to update the template to accomodate 1.5 since the update will increase the number of sidings to approx 130 sidings.

Thanks for pointing the problem out.

Thank you for this insight. Does this mean you are going to update the template? It's a great route and being able to generate acts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again

Hi Ted,

This is to confirm that upgrading the templates with the v1.5. is now under way. Will introduce new traffic patterns and am looking into all possibilities now that 10 extra miles of the Halton sub and the Brampton Intermodal Terminal are now part of the route.

Hope to release it in about two weeks at the latest. Will update later as it progresses.

Hello to all,

The CN Bala 1.5 template package has been sent tonight to Steve for uploading in the templates page.

I would like to thank John (cnbala) and Benny (bennycdn) for having tested the templates for me.

Enjoy,
