I am trying to generate an activity for the NJC route using a template for the CNJ. All works well until I get to save my new activity. I then get an error about not finding a file called Consist-Preamble.dat. Program closes with a runtime error 53.

Mervyn:

While I cannot address the specific run-time error, I can offer the following

If you downloaded this template from the Train-sim file library, it is one that I wrote several years ago for version 1.6 of the SLG. If you are trying to generate an activity with the Activity Generator, you could have problems. Also, the template for the western portion of the CNJ was tough on computer resources and could only run at lower quality settings on the Train Simulator until the latest batch of better computers were on the market. Frame rates were about 5 around the Brill Yard on the old computers.

I am working on a new template for the CNJ for the Activity Generator. I sent it to a freind of mine to test out. Will post it when I am satisfied that it is all right.

Mervyn,

I had another user who reported that they didn't have this file ("Consist-preamble.dat")  That file is supplied with the full install of Activity Generator.  I suggest you use the download link and re-install Activity Generator (you might want to go to Control Panel then Add/Remove Programs and UNINSTALL Activity Generator first).

Also as Don points out, if you're running his template, you should be using SwitchList Generator classic which also comes with the full install.  If you're running Norm Beveridge's template however you should use Activity Generator 3 or later.

If you need to reinstall Activity Generator and don't have the link please email me directly at SteveDavis@skylinecomputing.com and I will send it to you.

Thanks,

Steve
