Ok, so you might ask, "Where are you with more templates?"

I know Denis and Norm are working on some and I have a new user whose template we may soon be posting as well.  But for me, here's where I am.

I have downloaded and installed Michael Stephan's GN Hi-Line route, plus updates through version 3.03.  Craig Kawahara is concurrently working on a map of the route.  So, I'm finally starting on a template!

Also Joe Bandit has an update for his great North Coast route.  I am getting ready to test my template to see if it works correctly with this update.  If not I will release an updated template, possibly before the North Coast Route template is completed (because it looks like it could take a while!)

Next on my list was the freeware Cajon Pass route.  Craig has finished a map for that route so I'll get started on that template once I've finished GN Hi-Line and NCR.

The others on the list will come in turn.

Cheers!

AT RR

Steve,

You can add the ERIE RR to the upcoming templates. This is for the Newark and Jersey City route. I'm in the final steps of getting the paper work together.

Steve,

Per my previous email to you, I have begun work on the Freeware Cajon Pass route.  I am in the process of placing cars on the sidings at this point.  After starting in Hobart yard, I am currently at MP 94 heading toward Cajon Pass.  This route has approximately 495 sidings along the way.  So there will be countless ways to switch this route.  Switching crews will definitely will need Craig Kawahara's map to navigate this one!  You could get lost in some of the industrial areas.

Hi Jim,

Glad to hear about the progress for the route. Yes, Cajon is Huge! Can't wait to enjoy the template although I am aware it will take some time for you to finish it.

After my little joking comment to this topic, perhaps others are wondering what route I am working with.  Well, since I posted to the file library at t-s an activity for CGW, I suppose that the cat's already out of the bag.

For the Freeware Cajon Pass, I now have all the cars placed on most of the sidings.  I pretty much used the default cars and some of the cars from Norm's and Steve's templates.  I did that to minimize the downloads.  I am looking for some input on what everyone would like on some of the sidings designated as the coach yard.  Would some like to have coaches and what type?  I was thinking it might be interesting to have some activities making up some passenger trains.  What are your thoughts?

I think that there are some express reefers and boxcars out there, maybe at Elvas Tower and the t-s file library.  Also, some head end cars would make for good passenger train switching, if the route has house tracks at any of the stations.

Uhhh . . . I thought we had run out of routes to build template for???

In spite of my recent post about the Monon, I currently have three routes loaded and ready to work on.  I see several more routes which are soon to be released.  So I guess that the well is not yet dry.

I have given up trying to keep up with all the templates being created by others.  I used to try to get all the routes and templates and create activities not just for fun, but also to learn how others were developing templates, so that I could do better.  But with so many coming out so often, it is just not possible anymore!  THIS IS A GOOD THING!

Bob Wirth's ATSF Seligman (not SLI's Seligman):

I have completed car and pick up event placement for the route's templates, and also player paths for the EB template.  Next is player paths for the WB template, then traffic (services, consists, and paths), then testing.

Templates are complete, now in testing.
