Streamlines has released Seligman 2.0.

I have ran over most of the route and they have done a great job on it.

If none of you guys are going after it I would like to ad it to my list.

Let me know.

I would like to add my vote to those for a template for Seligman Sub2 by SLI. It's a wonderful route but it only has something like six activities. It definitely needs more. I hope someone will make one! Thanks in advance.

Hi to all,

Still waiting for some developments from Teemu over the Buffalo route to resume working on it...

In the meantime, Pete has asked me to takeover construction of the Seligman 2 template to allow him to concentrate with the other projects, including the mega PRR, Monon 12 and Tri-State routes.

Thanks Pete for this privilege and do my best to get the best of its potential!

At first, looking at the rolling stock, the user may have noticed the presence of only 5-car articulated stack cars. Articulated cars such as those being part of the route cannot be handled by AG. I have found two (2) excellent replacement freeware stack cars, including a set from Bernard Grant (BEW) and the other by Luke Lohrmeyer. The player train will be able to use these cars while the SLI default stack cars will remain part of the AI traffic. I may add a few extra downloads to increase variety to the current stock available with the route.

I am including some teaser shots of the route, both here at Flagstaff. Some of you that are familiar with SLI may notice (on the second shot) their signature on one sign, if you can recognize the names behind the sign.

So that's it and will update as it progresses.

Just to confirm that the WB template is already done with around 105 serviceable sidings throughout the 300-mile network. Traffic AI have been configured based on a 30-35 trains daily from both directions. It translates into one AI averaging 90 minutes of intervall between trains.

A little mistake have been done while putting the markers on the sidings: I have temporarily forgotten that all the markers on one siding must be of the same type of cars if multiple cars are put in one siding. Such mistake will cause AG to recognize only the first available car type on the consist and will ignore the other and will generate a missing car type in the SWLACT file once trying to generate an SLG-ACT file

Luckily, the mistakes were found and have been corrected.

Here is the first picture of the very first SLG-generated template act, here at the Winslow yards. I have already noticed that the motive power here will not be sufficient to handle a 50-car load. It slowed down to less than 30mph before reaching MP 310. Will have to increase the motive power to keep a reasonable speed in this mostly 60-70 mph line.

Let me know if you are interested in testing the templates once they are done.

With the default package, seven (7) additional downloads are estimated, including a MOW package, the same one used for the Green River MOW Templates. I will be considering having one also done for Seligman.

Projected are the EB, WB, MOW, YARDS and LOCALS templates. The LOCALS here may include also one from Phoenix (starting South of Williams Jct)to Flagstaff and return. I have found the way to make this one possible by using the Williams Jct siding to simulate an oncoming meet to generate an end to the act. This has been done once with the Blackfoot 2 templates. That will be considered.

Will continue updating as the template progresses.

Hi to all,

The Seligman 2 template package is now finished. I have started to do some testing on the different templates, which includes WB, EB, LOCALS, YARDS and MOW templates. I have added one download, that is Lime hoppers used by the Lime plant in Nelson. I have added extra power to all AI consists to ensure reasonable speed across the steep grades along the route.

Close to Needles is the lowest elevation at Topock (456 ft) at MP 564-565 while the highest elevation is at the Arizona Divide (MP 350-351) at 7322 ft. Other than the softer grades many areas are at 1.5%, one area is 1.8% near Griffith.

I am including some shots from the EB MOW template between Seligman and about MP 370. However my train stopped at a red light by a train ahead of me. It is maybe because of the insufficient power to handle the grades. This is one of the reason behind the adjustment of the motive power to each AI traffic.

If some of you are interested to join me with testing the templates, let me know.

A question for Craig here: is an update to the Seligman sub part of your future map projects?

Thanks again Craig for your excellent work on your maps.

We'll be patient on our side.

Using a loaner Buckeye Cyrus ore loader from a defunct rock mine, I located the Seligman 2 cd and related printouts. I have rescaled the old Seligman 1 diagram and have started updating it to Seligman 2 content. Using the ol' hodge-podge (I haven't a clue) approach, I have just completed the update as far as Navajo MP 356.

PRR Eastern - all changes have been incorporated, but I'm waiting for the release to check for pesky last minute adjustments". I believe the docs were buried bu the steam shovel thou as it moved to locate Seligman. Not sure...just hoping it did not to a 180 pivot where I think the docs were.

Buffalo - just making it pretty ( or as some would say "readable").

That's all folks.

Thanks Craig for the update,

I have started to test the route and Benny has joined in with the testing of the package. Thanks again Benny!

I have focused first on the LOCALS template since there are return paths with traffic from both directions to cope with. My first template was from Seligman to Walapai and return to Seligman with some work at Nelson and Walapai. Actual BNSF local runs from Needles and Seligman turn back to their point of departure after setting cars at Walapai for the other local to puckup the cars at Walapai.

Everything went well but closing in Walapai, it ended with a red signal beacuse of the AI train ahead which was barely moving Wesward. That AI traffic consist had been adjusted with different and more motive power and a slight change in rolling stock. In the AE, it seems to move much faster. I have made some ajdustments with traffic timing as well since the LOCAL extitng Seligman was not far behind the AI train and wanted to give the LOCAL extra time to handle the cars in Nelson.

Here are some screens of the SLG-LOCAL template from Seligman up to just East of Valentine.

Will update later

dgionet
Continuing testing the LOCALS, this time from Needles to Walapai and return to Needles.

Everything went fine up to the reverse point at Walapai. The path has been mistakenly set not to turn into the Walapai East siding to allow work on the Walapai east setout siding and then reverse back WB. It has remained on the mainline. The result is on the return trip, I have encountered red signals WB. I have corrected both paths so the user will enter into East or West Walapai sidings to allow work on the East and West setout sidings. I have made sure the reverse point is far enough to allow the entire train to clear the switches and the user should see the reverse points disappear and then reverse back home.

Here are the screens from Needles up to Walapai, preparing a turnaround back home.

Will get back later with more updates

Hi to all

I have been successfull in working a SLG-generated LOCAL run from Phoenix (Actually William's Jct) to Flagstaff and return to William's Jct, simulating an oncoming meet to end the activity. It included work on 25 cars. I had some spotting and lifting in Navajo but most of the work has been done in Flagstaff. It took more than three hours to complete the activity.

I am including two posts. The first set depict work inside Flagstaff and once the work has been done the runaround process for the way home. Once the reversing point has disappeared, an interesting twist took place. That will be posted on the second set of shots.

The first set here

See the other post for the second set
dgionet
The second set.

Once ready for the return home, I was held back to let a WB Stack car pass and once clear to proceed slowly ahead I followed it up to my destination point in William's Jct. Once arrived at William's Jct, make sure to stop completely your load, as seen on the last picture to complete the act.

On the next picture, the Arizona Divide, Highest point in the Seligman Sub at 7322 ft.

Will keep updating later

Great news Craig and thanks again,

Can't wait to get my hands on the maps. That will definitely help with the testing.

Hi Denis - is this AG based on the freeware seligman sub or the Payware Streamlines version??
Thanks. Really looking forward to the Buffalo route and AG

Hello to all,

At this point, I feel comfortable to release the template package and Benny gave me the OK to go ahead as well.

Thanks Benny for your time with testing the pack!

I am including the two last shots of the testing, here the EBMOW Template, here at Maine for some work there. Toggling the signalling to permissive and the switching to manual may be required during your runs along the route.

The pictures

Here you may notice the presence of a storage car and caboose along the run. They are not indispensable to the activity but adds some eye candy. I have set for each MOW path a possiblilty to retrieve both cars, right behind the load of cars to be picked up for the run, if desired

When creating your MOW SLG-generated activities, make sure to uncheck the following feature in the Railfill window of AG

That will make sure you wont have in your way some unwanted cars between your load you have just picked up and both storage car and caboose.

Here is the picture that should be seen in the templates page.

Will confirm once the package is available in the templates page

Just to confirm that Steve has uploaded the template package and is now available in the templates page.

Thanks again Steve, enjoy the pack and happy trainsimming!

Denis,

You need to double check one of the activity, SELIGMAN2EBTEMPLATE because right after the beginning of this simulation the message popped up on the screen with " Activity Complete " I have not start yet to run this activity. You need to fix this template.

John
ImCanadian
Denis,

The same as above but different activity, SELIGMAN2WBTEMPLATE. Have no idea what to look for to fix these activities?

John

P.S. Found all templates are the same with " Activity Complete " Guess you have to go through all templates and fix the problems before post the revised templates up for download.
dgionet
Hi John,

Glad to hear from you again,

Make sure to run the SLG-based activities such as for example the SLG-SELIGMAN2WB activity and not the SELIGMAN2WB ACT file, which is the basic file AG uses to creat a SLG- generated activity. I had this experience with the basic template ACT files and gives the same message.

You should be OK once you generate your SLG-act with AG.

Cheers

Denis

Hi Denis,

I have tried to generate one activity at a time. But for some reason the program ask me some question and here is below:

Unable to continue

You didn't select any Industry tracks to service tracks, or any destination tracks to set your train on. Activity Generator cannot generate an activity without some track or tracks on which to set out cars.

I did not want to mess up your activities and not sure what I am doing with this? I know you have my e-mail address and can you send me the SLG-SELIGMAN activites ( 5 altogether ) .

Thank you,

John

I'm running the local and haven't encountered any problems.Ran a eastbound on Friday with no problems as well.

Wish that I can run Eastbound this morning but can't and still waiting to hear from Denis.

Hi John,

Here's an example to have a EB Seligman template set up with cars to be picked up as source tracks and also during the run at Seligman. The final destination is at Winslow.

Or you can have a consist already set at the very beginning. Here, you don't have necessarily to have cars picked up as source tracks, since your consist has already 55 cars. That is why the source tracks area isn't activated. You can notice the maximum cars in starting train is set at 55 while the first example has none.

In both cases, if these areas are checked as indicated, you should be OK in creating your acts. Make sure to save your SLG-generated activity. Once saved, just run these SLG-generated acts.
ImCanadian
Nothing work right with my program of Activity Generator. All I do is go around and around with the stupid errors popped up on the screen. Why don't you just send new files with SLG-SELIGMAN activites in zip to template download here at this forum. That would save me much time trying to create the activities. Sorry about this but I think that would be a lot easier for you to create the files and send them to upload.

Thank you,

John

Hi John,

I have included a small attachment to run one successfully SLG-generated Seligman EB template.

Pickups at Needles #4 & #5. Some setouts and pickups at Seligman. Final setout of your load at Winslow Yard #1 to end the activity.

Let me know how it turns out and enjoy.
