Adelaide Hills Route (Austrailia - freeware).

The Adelaide, Hills & South East route is located in Southern Australia, which is known as the driest state in the driest continent on the planet. This 1950's route covers the entire metropolitan area of Adelaide and a number of branch lines: over 600 miles of main line. It is considered an absolute masterpiece and is worth downloading and running.  It  can be downloaded as a single self-install file (350MB) or as separate files at the following link:

http://steam4me.railpage.org.au/trainsim/routes/sar_adlv2.html

Denis has been able to test most areas and it looks OK.  Although he feels confident the template is fit to be released as is, he has decided to release it as a Beta version to allow users to report any problems whatsoever for a while.  Please report those in the forum.

Lake Superior and Ispeming (LS&I), aka "Michigan Iron Ore".  Payware route, Maple Leaf Tracks. Posted 11/5/2007.  The LS&I is a short line, yet has six-axle units and a small segment of CTC. It hauls only iron ore, yet the trains can max out at 7000 tons. And it's just plain fun to run.  Here's what you need: the MLT Michigan Iron Ore route (of course), Activity Generator 4, and the latest version of MSTS Bin (for cab switching, front coupler work and other enhancements). A handy tool to have is Rob Weststrate's LS&I maps, available at Train-sim.com - search for lsi_map.zip. Since no extra rolling stock downloads are needed, you can run these templates right out of the box, so to speak. Eric Anderson AG4 or later.

Posted 12/9/08.  The Northwest Line is a fictional route, based in areas that would be likely be in Alberta or Saskatchewan, Canada. The Canadian National (CN) and Canadian Pacific Railways (CP) are the main lines of the route.  A third line (BNSF) is introduced briefly on the west end of the route and connects with the CN at Krestler.  The CN double-track main line extends from Aspen River, the western end of the route to Havenford in the east. Ohio Rail (OR&W Portion) Build 10  Freeware route by Rich Garber.  Available at www.avsim.com This template covers only the Ohio River and Western portion of this route and only runs with SwitchList Generator "Classic" (version 1.6).  This has NOT been tested with Rich Garber's new payware Ohio Rail Scenery Upgrade.  A new template is being developed that covers the full route, works with the latest version of Activity Generator, and also supports Rich Garber's scenery upgrade.  Be watching this web site for that. Steve Davis SLG Classic ONLY -- Will NOT work with Activity Generator!
Ohio Rail build 10 for AG3  Freeware route by Rich Garber.  Available at www.avsim.com, Payware Update available here. Updated 12-9-07 to correct a missing car type.  Rich Garber has released a scenery upgrade for his Ohio Rail route which brings this route up to the standard of Cumberland and Canton-Grove.  Check it out here!   He also removed nearly all the signals on the branch lines.  Because of this I have completely re-written the Activity Generator template for this route.   Due to the number of branch lines and towns, and because all are accessible, this template has more start points and paths than any template I've ever created!   The template has been tested with the Rich's payware update but should also run with Ohio Rail Build 10 WITHOUT the update.  If you have Activity Generator and Ohio Rail, you should try this template. Potash Route (Utah) Posted 7/31/08.  The Potash route is 35.77 miles of undulating railway. It comes off the the Utah desert mainline at Brendel, UT (Crescent) , and follows US 191 south towards Moab (Potash). A few miles north of town, the line veers west through the 7050-foot Bootlegger Tunnel, where it continues about five more miles down the Colorado River canyon to Potash. The line runs on rather flat land until you get down past about MP 20 - that's where the scenery really starts to dwarf the train. Denis Gionet AG 4 or later.

Saluda ---the Asheville & Spartanburg Norfolk Southern Line.  Freeware by Kent Weissinger Updated 9/15/2007 to correct a template error discovered by a user.   "I have many, many impressions of Saluda Mountain both during the time I was a train dispatcher in Asheville and also when I returned later as division superintendent ... It is undoubtedly the most dangerous and critical stretch of mainline railroad anywhere in the country, and the unusual events that have occurred on the mountain would fill a rather large book. Fortunately, modem equipment such as pressure maintaining features of locomotives as well as more sophisticated brake equipment have reduced the danger to some extent, but as you know it is still a piece of railroad that must be watched every minute."

San Diego and Arizona (SD&A) route (route built by Mark DiVecchio)

Updated 12/6/2007 modified the required rollingstock.doc file in the SDA file following the release of the missing locos file at Train-sim.com today. Details of this release have been reported in the forum The San Diego and Arizona Railway simulated version covers around 80 miles from the US-Mexico borderline to the city of El Centro, in the Imperial Valley. When considering the area for construction in the early 1900's, it was once called "the impossible railroad" by reputable engineers because of its passing through the magnificent Carriso Gorge, close to the Mexican border. The railroad was one of the most expensive ever built in the U.S., costing almost $19 million in 1919. Denis Gionet AG 4 or later.
